Project Manager

Renewable Solar Inc is a rapidly growing Solar PV Engineering, Procurement, Construction (Solar ECP) company, currently managing a portfolio of over 200 ongoing PV solar projects valued in excess of $200M with a staff of roughly 140 personnel. Renewable Solar is seeking a Contract Project Manager to support a large ground mount solar project located in the vicinity of Ventura, California. This Project Manager is responsible for successful delivery of ~20MWs of ground mount fixed tilt PV system planned for 2025 construction in vicinity of California, overseeing full life cycle of the project, from contract to final Commercial Operation Date (COD). Project Manager would be supported directly by an RSI team composed of an assigned Assistant Project Manager(s), Construction Manager(s), and site-specific Superintendent/Foremans. PM would be indirectly supported by RSI's Engineering/Logistics and Construction team based out of Hanford, CA. Core responsibilities include: • Own the client relationship and routinely communicate that project status effectively both external customers and internal RSI stakeholders. • Own the project plan, driving project success across all phases of project life cycle, from sales/engineering/construction through utility provided permission to operate. • Own the project schedule, providing periodic reports and effectively communicating progress to include concerns with project delays. Requirements of the Position: Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience as a Project Manager, 3-5 preferred. Project Managers must be familiar with general life cycle requirements of a PV project or commercial construction, from contract signing to final commissioning inspections. Project Manager must have ability to read and interpret construction documents including plan sets, specs and contracts. Project Manager must be self-motivated, proactive, team players, work well with others, and work under time pressure to adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Project Manager must maintain a valid driver’s license and are expected to commute periodically to job site. • ** Ideal candidate has 3+ years of project management experience, a bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Engineering and a professional certification, either a Project Management Professional (PMP), and/or NABCEP PV Associate *** Supervisory Controls: Project Managers will report to the Director of Project Management. Project Managers are expected to work 40-45 hours/week, with core hours being Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM, and available to support non-standard overtime hours as necessary. Evaluation Factors: Project Managers will be evaluated based on project driven metrics, and their ability to successfully deliver quality projects on time and within budget. RSI conducts project level cost accounting on all projects, with PM is accountable across all phases of the project for delivery of a timely and profitable project. Pay Scale: Project Manager compensation is negotiable, on a 1099 contract basis, with a combination of salary + project-based incentives. Compensation will be at market rates, based on qualifications, currently estimated between $75k-$150k/year + additional ~25% in available project-based incentives. Core Responsibilities: • Plan and organize all aspects of your projects ensuring compliance with customer objectives, schedules, budgets, and quality standards. • Assist in creating of the project plan that includes timeline, staffing, and resource allocation. • Supervise execution of the project plan through the superintendents ensuring we are account for quality control, safety, sub-contracts, utility work, and AHJ inspections. • Coordinate supporting functions such as logistics, personnel administration, and equipment deliveries. • Manage your construction team and provide mentorship and guidance to our project superintendents, foreman, and crew members. Clearly communicate company policy and objectives to the construction staff. Reward high performance and issue disciplinary paperwork where required. • Supervise fieldwork to ensure trade standards meet RSI Quality Control and Best Practice expectations. • Monitor project progress by making regular site visits and ensure progress is reported and recorded in the project management software. • Manage project documentation and reporting including contracts, plans, change orders, QC Reports, punch lists, site progress and labor reporting, and photos. • Resolve project issues and implement solutions in a professional manner. • Adhere and enforce company policies in safety, quality control, and human resources. • Stay informed of industry best practices and continuously seek opportunities for education and professional development for him/herself and the construction team. Requirements of the Position: • 3-7 years of construction management experience. • Education: Preferred bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture or work as a licensed contractor. • Strong knowledge base of construction methods techniques, and materials, as well as knowledge of building codes, national electrical code, and industry standards. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Proficient in project management software such as BuilderTrend, Monday.com, ProCore or MS Project. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. • Supervisory Controls: Construction Managers report to the Senior Consruction Manager. Construction Managers are expected to work 40-50 hours/week, with core hours being Monday-Friday 5AM-3PM, and available to support non-standard Overtime hours as necessary. • Compensation: Construction Managers compensation is negotiable, and may be either hourly or salary, with a combination of project-based incentives. Compensation will be at market rates, based on qualifications, currently estimated between $80k -$150k annually+ incentives, to include 5% 401k match and employer sponsored health care options. • Conditions of Employment: Other conditions as outlined in the RSI employee handbook.
