Currently, we are seeking a Mechanical Machine Design Engineer to work collaboratively with our Fabrication Shop in Shelton, Washington. About the Position • Design lumber manufacturing equipment for both new installations and rebuilds • Manage multiple projects at many different stages, big and small • Develop and improve lumber processing equipment designs • Effectively utilize 3D modeling software to create designs and drawings • Provide direction to assemblers and machinists • Deliver completed projects that consider the complete application and needs of operations • Through research and coordination, establish design concepts relative to the development of new equipment • Actively plan and oversee equipment installation, upgrades, and start-ups • Contribute creative solutions in an innovative team environment • Continuously learn and improve knowledge of the industry and equipment Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field or equivalent experience • 2+ years’ experience in the lumber industry and/or machine design • Experience with SolidWorks or 3D modeling software • Working knowledge of hydraulics, drives, welding, and machining preferred • Machine center alignment and installation experience is helpful • Possess strong problem-solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Why Join Our Team? Engineering Helper

Description Join our team as an Engineering Helper! If you enjoy working outdoors, this position offers approximately eight months of outdoor, labor-intensive field work each year as part of the District’s Pole Inspection, Testing, and Treatment (PITT) Program, helping ensure the safety and reliability of our electrical system. During the remaining four months, you will support the Engineering Department with a mix of indoor and supplemental outdoor duties as needed. Minimum to Market Pay Range ($60,800 - $76,000): For new hires to the position and the District, pay generally starts at the minimum, though qualifications and experience may be considered. Increases within this range occur over time based on demonstrated proficiency and satisfactory performance. Midpoint to Max Pay Range ($76,000 - $91,200): Pay above the midpoint to the maximum is typically reserved for employees with sustained performance and established longevity in the position at the District. Job Duties • Perform field duties in the District’s Pole Inspection, Testing, and Treatment (PITT) Program. This will include: identifying hazards in the work site; performing sounding tests; excavation around poles with a shovel; drilling test holes; measuring pole shell; applying pole treatment; restoration; and other related activities. • Perform various duties to support engineering designers which may include: stake and paint tasks; review and video locates; survey and stake support; fielding support; customer notification/coordination for maintenance jobs; and other related tasks. • Visually inspect completed and in-progress projects in order to create as-built material lists and other schematic drawings in conjunction with as-built preparation and detail map updating. • Interpret work orders, site instructions, notes, construction plans, drawings, and staking sheets for maintaining detailed maps and databases of the District’s electrical and fiber systems. • Work with other District staff to report and manage variances or deviations between construction design and as-builts in the field, for the purpose of accurate District records. • Inspect new and existing facilities for National Electrical Safety Code compliance, specifically joint-use pole contact clearances. • Assist in troubleshooting customer service problems and complaints, develop plans for correction, and coordinate remediation activities with other District personnel. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities • Preference given to A.T.A. in engineering (electrical, civil, mechanical) or other technical field. • Acquire and maintain necessary certifications for the performance of the District’s PITT program. • Have the ability to interact in a courteous and respectful manner with the general public and internal team members and use excellent human relations skills as a representative of the District. • Knowledge in the use of surveying equipment, ability to read and interpret drawings, maps, legal documents, surveys and property descriptions. • Must have the ability to understand the District’s engineering standards, policies, materials, specifications, and procedures. • Ability to learn and effectively use the District’s work order system in the NISC module and Blue Beam Software.
