Journeyman Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Nippon Dynawave Packaging Company has an immediate opening for Journeyman Mechanical Maintenance Technicians with a varied background in mechanical skills, including pipe fitting, and who have the ability to work in a self-directed work environment where teamwork, quality, and workplace safety are the standards. Starting wage is $44.69; wage range is $44.69 to $47.15. Key Functions: The successful candidate must safely be able to perform mechanical equipment installations, repairs, inspections, adjustments, and troubleshooting at the journeyman skill level in a heavy industrial environment. They must be able to take basic equipment information, including work plans and equipment drawings, and apply them on-the-task. They must take necessary measurements, enter requisitions, and install equipment or parts with general direction from a supervisor. This position requires excellent communication skills, willingness to learn and participate as part of a self-directed team. This includes the ability to interact constructively with team members and customers for mechanical services. The work is often performed outside in a heavy industrial process environment, which can at times include high heat, humidity, and noise. Candidates must be able to understand and perform standard safe work practices such as Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Personal Protective Equipment selection and use, and other safe work procedures/practices are requirements. Requirements: • Five years of hands-on mechanical experience in a continuous process industry or construction trade. • Journey-level rating in either pipe fitting, welding, mechanical trade, or equivalent experience. • A demonstrated commitment to safety. • Possess demonstrated interpersonal skills. • Understanding and troubleshooting of failure modes of all types of rotating assemblies (i.e. pumps, motors, gearboxes, fans, conveyors, etc.). • Understanding of best practices for installing basic rotating machinery components such as bearings, seals, and couplings. • Understanding of and ability to perform many levels of repair to maximize the process reliability of the mill. • Working knowledge of computers and associated software. Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer

This position is in Nippon Dynawave Packaging’s Engineering Department. The Engineering Department manages projects that support continued improvements in the Fiber Supply, Fiberline, Paper Machine, Extruder, Wet Lap, and Energy & Utility operating units. Project Engineer-Mechanical Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position has responsibility for capital and major maintenance projects that support safety, reliability, and process improvements in the mill’s operating units. Strong project management and technical skills are required to coordinate the involvement of resources from Operations, Maintenance, consulting engineers, and vendors. Manage projects from design, through construction, and start up. Essential Functions • Participate and lead as appropriate in safety process improvements to ensure an injury free work site. • Coordinate designs, drawings, and specifications that will meet process and facility objectives • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering standards, proven techniques, procedures and criteria to meet project objectives. • Inspect and evaluate the condition of specific process equipment. • Troubleshoot processes and equipment, determine root cause of problems, and develop corrective action plans. • Utilize maintenance and financial software system to perform job functions for work order processing, purchase requisitions, and project cost accounting. Required Qualifications • Minimum of 5 years experience in Pulp and Paper manufacturing, Petrochemical, or Power Plant (steam, boilers, generation) facilities preferred. • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required. • Experience with boilers, steam turbines, and Power/Recovery processes preferred. • Strong commitment to safety in design and construction. • Team oriented, with a good work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work independently. Must be self-motivated. • Experience in administering contracts with vendors and contractors. • Proven ability to work constructively with operators, management, suppliers, contractors, and customers to achieve the project’s desired results. • Must have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects that span multiple engineering disciplines. • Willingness to work extended hours and off shifts when conditions warrant. • Strong communication and computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Familiarity with Microsoft Project is a plus. • LEAN or Six Sigma experience desired. About Nippon Dynawave Packaging in Longview, WA: The Longview Liquid Packaging facility produces bleached paperboard used to make cartons and cups for liquids such as milk, juice, coffee, and sake. The facility employs about 500 people and produces 260,000 metric tons of paperboard each year - the equivalent of 6 billion liter-sized milk cartons. Weyerhaeuser launched the Longview Liquid Packaging business in 1953 and operated the facility until its acquisition by Nippon Paper Industries (NPI). NORPAC is looking for an experienced Project Manager Qualifications Job Qualifications Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) • Plan, lead, organize, and monitor capital and major maintenance projects consistent with NORPAC business goals • Conduct feasibility, scoping, planning, implementation, and commissioning phases of engineering projects • Manage engineering consulting personnel engaged in preparation of project scope and estimates, detail design, and equipment procurement for large projects • Perform basic mechanical and piping design as needed for small projects • Coordinate work with other engineers, operations, and maintenance on small and large projects • Specify and assist in procurement of equipment and materials • Learn and apply formal problem-solving techniques to improve process capability and product quality • Work with operations, maintenance, and management to solve daily safety, production, and quality issues • Participate and/or facilitate problem-solving task teams • Working knowledge of process piping and equipment (e.g. pressure vessels, pumps, pressing equipment, drying equipment, conveyers, and roll handling) • Other duties as assigned and identified Required Qualifications and Key Skills: • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and/or equivalent education/experience • Minimum of 7 years' experience in a manufacturing facility • Possess excellent skills in written and oral communication, time management, problem solving, conflict resolution and small task group facilitation • Demonstrated ability to develop cooperative working relationships between individuals and departments and a demonstrated ability to learn and continue to develop knowledge and skills base • Ability to prepare, analyze, and critique project financial justifications • Demonstrated ability in project management • Strong computer knowledge and skills that includes experience in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint • Flexible to meet changing business and team needs and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. • Ability to excel with minimal supervision • Experience in supporting and leading both capital and major maintenance projects ranging in installed cost from $2 million to $100 million Desirable: • Ten plus years of experience in a manufacturing facility with five plus years in the pulp and paper industry • Minimum of 2 years in a progressive leadership role • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Project, and SAP • Experience working with non-traditional, high-performance work systems • Compensation: Annual salary range for this position $110,000 to 150,000 depending on experience.
