Raytheon Field Engineering is seeking a Senior Level Service Engineer to advise and mentor our customers and end users on the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of the APG-79 Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) RADAR system on F/A-18 Aircraft. This engineer shall be responsible for analyzing equipment failures to determine root cause and recommend corrective action. This position is based out of Naval Air Station (NAS) Whidbey Island, WA and shall be expected to require occasional traveling both internationally and domestic. What You Will Do • Provide APG-79 training to all squadron maintainers and aircrew as needed. • Perform continuous trend analysis to capture software/hardware faults. • Work to improve APG-79 troubleshooting techniques. • Report all technical activity and participate in BIT evaluation teleconferences weekly. • Collaborate with government agencies and other contractors to maintain good communication in support of APG-79 radar. • Represent Raytheon to external customers in both CONUS and OCONUS locations as required. • Must be willing to travel both domestic and international. Qualifications You Must Have • Typically requires a bachelor's in science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 5 years of prior engineering experience. Experience in lieu of education can be substituted. • Current/active U.S. government issued Secret security clearance. • Experience maintaining the F/A-18 Aircraft or a RADAR/Avionics System. Qualifications We Prefer • Experience operating and maintaining the F/A-18 RADAR/Avionics Systems. • Experience with the F/A-18 APG-65, APG-73 and/or APG-79 RADAR Systems. • Experience analyzing faults and overseeing the troubleshooting and maintenance of the F/A-18 APG-79 AESA or similar system. • Prior experience with airborne fire control and reconnaissance RADAR systems. • Ability to provide day-to-day technical support and work the required shifts to meet the squadron maintenance schedules. • Previous experience as a field representative in support of US Armed Forces systems. • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to complete comprehensive and accurate reports. • Ability to interact with military customers and other contractor/government personnel. • Ability to function under operational pressures to meet flight schedules and operational requirements. • Be a self-motivated with the ability to perform with limited supervision. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Perform daily assigned tasks as directed in mechanical assembly, seat track assembly, tooling or bonding. • Read and interpret engineering and technical drawings and specifications. • Ensure that all assigned work is done according to established quality standards. • Setup assembly tools per tooling instructions or drawing. • Obtain kitted (pre-picked) detail parts, standards and assemblies. • Select proper tooling kit (e.g. holding fixtures, drill motors, reamers) to perform work on parts/assemblies, as required. • Align parts to tool stops, matching pilot holes or by hand layout and secure in place using clamps. • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or accurately measuring for close tolerance/correct fit of connections and parts. • Drill, ream and countersink full size holes in parts/assemblies in sequence and to correct size using drill press, rivet gun and bucking bar drill motor, power screwdriver, C-squeeze, ratchet wrench, nut runner. • Apply bonding agents of sealants and adhesives. Clean using solvents. • Verify specifications by measuring completed component. • Report any malfunctioning equipment to the Production Supervisor. May assist in repair and /or routine maintenance of such equipment. • Maintain a clean and safe work area and assist in the monitoring of daily shop clean-up, as assigned by supervisor. • Work safely, report potential hazards and follow company safety standards. • Other duties as assigned.
