Senior Mechanical Engineer

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT As a subject matter expert, the Senior Automation Design Engineer leads highly complex equipment design and manufacturing technology R&D efforts with minimal oversight. Key responsibilities include: Developing and implementing a diverse range of automated equipment to support high volume manufacturing, identifying and addressing opportunities for improved reliability of existing equipment, and coaching junior staff members. This position is accountable for supporting existing equipment, integrating new equipment to support new and existing manufacturing processes, and identifying opportunities for improved reliability, efficiency, and product quality. DUTIES • Machine Design and Development (60%)- Lead the development of complex automated systems, from initial concept to production-ready machinery, ensuring designs align with manufacturing requirements and business objectives. • 3D Modeling, FEA & Documentation – Create parametric 3D models, perform FEA, apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5), and conduct tolerance analysis to produce detailed drawings, BOMs, and test plans. • Technology Selection & Integration – Specify and integrate critical machine components, including selecting sensors, sizing motors and actuators and designing pneumatic systems. • Leadership and Continuous Improvement (30%)- Support and lead technical activities with suppliers and internal teams. Apply Lean and Six Sigma principles to advance equipment designs. Identify opportunities for improvement and contribute to quality systems. Lead continuous improvement initiatives and mentor others. • Communication and Documentation (10%)- Maintain clear communication through formal and informal channels, ensuring proper documentation and updates are shared within the team and with external stakeholders. • Cross-Functional Collaboration and Problem-Solving- Collaborate across teams and backgrounds to identify and resolve technical challenges, present solutions, and contribute to project planning and scheduling. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred; degrees in other engineering disciplines considered with relevant industry experience • 5+ years' experience with equipment design for an industrial, high-volume production environment • Solve problems analytically; search out relevant information and gauge its importance when making decisions • Effective written and oral communication skills; able to express oneself clearly and in appropriate terms for the target audience • Proficiency in parametric 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred) • Able to operate and troubleshoot PLC-based automation control systems • Collaborative and effective team player able to work with globally dispersed teams • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and data management software (SAP preferred) AVAILABILITY This is a hybrid position with an onsite expectation of 3 to 4 days or as required by the job. For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in Washington, Colorado, Nevada, California, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, Oregon Tool is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Oregon Tool, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $100,000 - $145,000. Mechanical Project Manager

Job Title: Mechanical Project Manager Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Project Manager to lead and manage engineering projects in various industrial sectors. This role offers the opportunity to oversee projects from conception through to completion, ensuring all client objectives are met while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Responsibilities • Take ownership of projects, working creatively to ensure their success. • Monitor and direct work on multiple projects simultaneously, acting as both lead engineer and project manager. • Manage projects ranging from small to large budgets, overseeing schedules, scopes, and financials. • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing solutions and status reports. • Lead meetings with internal teams and clients, both online and in person. • Estimate costs for projects, including engineering, construction, equipment, and other expenses. • Manage and resolve conflicts within project teams and with clients. • Develop and review engineering documents and drawings, ensuring compliance with industry standards. • Interact effectively with different engineering disciplines, considering the overall project impact. • Collect and analyze field notes from site visits. Essential Skills • Proven experience in project management and engineering design, especially in heavy industrial projects. • Strong experience in mechanical engineering, with several years in oil and gas, renewable energies, or pulp and paper sectors. • Experience in process piping, MEP design and engineering, plumbing design, HVAC, and construction management. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, web meeting software (MS Teams, WebEx, or Go-To Meeting), and PDF markup tools (Bluebeam Revu or Adobe Acrobat). • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or similar tools and Navisworks Freedom is preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 8+ years of experience as a tenured engineer and project manager on industrial projects. • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, preferably in mechanical or chemical engineering. • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license desired or willingness to obtain one. • Ability to travel 10-25% of the time, primarily in the western United States. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop strong professional relationships. • Self-motivated and capable of working independently as well as leading a team. • Commitment to continuous improvement and creative problem-solving. Work Environment This position offers a 100% remote work schedule with minimal travel required. Expect several short trips each year, lasting no more than a couple of nights at a time.
