Mechanical Engineering Team Leader - Outdoor Products

Overview We are seeking a full-time Team Leader Mechanical Engineering on our Outdoor product team in our Portland, OR location. In this role, you will be responsible for leading and directing a Mechanical Engineering team that designs, verifies and implements mechanical, optomechanical, and electromechanical components, products and systems. Hydraulics Mechanical Engineer

Job Title: Hydraulic/Mechanical Engineer Job Description The main function of this position is to design and support modifications to OEM machines. Most of the machines are hydraulically driven, but an increasing number of electrical components are being introduced into the heavy machinery. Thus, a key part of this role involves reading and understanding machine hydraulic and electrical schematics. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical design and engineering background for heavy industrial equipment and/or machinery, an understanding of machine hydraulic systems, and, ideally, a familiarity with Danfoss Plus 1 software for programming control systems. Responsibilities • Design and support modifications to OEM machines, and assist with other design projects using Creo, SolidWorks, or similar software. • Read and understand machine hydraulic and electrical schematics. • Design and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems. • Create schematics and bills of materials for production. • Design and test new systems. • Install, program, and repair programmable controllers. Qualifications • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (ME), Electrical Engineering (EE), or Mechatronics Engineering is strongly preferred. • 3-5+ years of post-academic, professional experience, with some related closely to the duties of this job. • Proven experience with hydraulics is essential - reading schematics, creating or modifying designs with hydraulics considerations. • Knowledge of heavy equipment hydraulic and electrical systems, including design and troubleshooting. • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics. • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, Creo, SolidWorks or other 3D CAD modeling software. • Basic programming skills in Danfoss Plus 1 software is advantageous. Work Environment This job is onsite at our client site, and the work environment includes both office areas for engineering work and shop floor areas for production. The shop environment is not temperature controlled, so candidates must be comfortable working in cold and warm environmental conditions. The role involves physically demanding tasks such as climbing up and down large off-road machinery and getting dirty while handling equipment. Flexibility in work hours is provided, with the ability to set your own schedule, as appropriate (start at 6am, for example). POSITION SUMMARY: The Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS) design engineering organization generates technical requirements and associated design parameters for the modular advanced light water reactor (ALWR) NSSS. Utilizing proven state-of-the-art methodologies NSSS components are engineered to nuclear industry standards. The person in this position performs design and stress analyses of pressure vessels , reactor vessel internals, primary equipment supports, and /or piping in accordance with ASME BPVC Section III and applicable regulatory requirements. All work within the NSSS design organization is completed under ASME NQA-1 quality assurance requirements and respective U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines. Essential Duties And Responsibilities • Possesses excellent knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has detailed knowledge of applicable industry codes, standards and regulations. • Performs and documents evaluations of components to the rules and requirements of Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code including but not limited to analysis of components for pressure, mechanical/thermal loadings including Primary Stress, Primary plus Secondary stress intensity range, and fatigue . Utilizes the results from these evaluations to optimize component(s) design. • Prepare and/or review engineering specifications, CAD models, and other documentation that communicate the design and technical aspects of components, systems, and structures associated with the NSSS. • Familiar with ANSYS finite element software and CAD packages. • Interprets scope and project requirements. • Acquires, maintains and develops training qualifications. Provides guidance and mentoring to other staff members in all areas of NSSS Systems and D esign. • Interacts with co-workers and other disciplines to promote effective coordination of design activities and resolution of technical problems. Individuals should be interested in acquiring general knowledge of principles and practices of related fields in order to function on multi-disciplinary teams. • Provides mentoring and technical direction to less experienced engineers. Serves as a technical lead for the NSSS Component Analysis Group . • Responsible for results and engineering oversight. • Performs other duties as assigned. Candidates must be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience with engineering design and stress engineering analysis ( D esign by A nalysis methodology) in the nuclear industry (Subsection NB, NG, or NF components of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code) , as well as expertise with the ANSYS computer program. Additional experience in the following areas is desired: • Seismic/dynamic analysis. • Computer programming skills (e.g., ANSYS APDL, Matlab , Python). • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
