We are looking for a Mechanical Drafter/Designer to prepare designs and specifications for refinery systems, prepare civil/structural design packages, and assist/conduct general surveying. You must be a detail-oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a strong commitment to customer service and the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are necessary. Responsibilities • Read and interpret existing civil, structural, piping plans and isometric drawings. • Prepare designs and layouts of refinery equipment related piping utilizing 3D modeling (CADWorx, Plant3D), 2D Computer Aided Design (CAD), and manual design methods. • Create mechanical design (civil, structural and piping) for assigned projects. Job completion will involve interaction with operations and maintenance personnel, all engineering disciplines, purchasing department, and contractors as pertains to project. • Create and maintain Refinery Plot Plans. • Maintain Utility System Drawings. • Support Process Safety Management (PSM) update requirements associated with Management of Change documents. • Understand and help develop 3D software pipe specs for various processes. • Assemble bill of material (BOM) for assigned projects utilizing appropriate piping specifications. • Provide preliminary BOM’s as requested for project estimation. • Assemble project plans sets for civil, structural and piping drawings as needed for bidding and construction. Update affected plant drawings and capture as-built field markups for record. • Assist with P&ID and Blinding Documents. • Read, markup and create Piping and Instrumentation Diagram’s (P&ID) to define project work scope. • Work with and direct external piping design contractors as required to complete job. • Assist with field walkdown to verify existing condition of piping and equipment. • Assist with general surveying and import data to CAD system for project setup and verification. • Import existing plant documents into document management software. • Work with refinery reliability group to support inspection and preventive maintenance programs. • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. • Perform other duties as requested. Minimum Qualifications (required) • High school diploma or GED • 1+ years of mechanical design experience utilizing CADWorx Additional Qualifications • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook • 3-5+ years of mechanical design experience utilizing AutoCAD • Experience with piping design in a refinery or other complex plant environment • Experience with CADWorx Physical Requirements • Ability to wear personal protective equipment including respirator CHS offers a competitive total rewards package.
