Mechanical Engineer: Collins Bus

Forest River, Inc., the Nation’s largest manufacturer of Recreational Vehicles, Cargo Trailers, Transit Buses and Boats has an immediate opening. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager and/or Senior Engineer, this is an intermediate level mechanical engineering position where the individual develops, designs and implements mechanical components, assemblies, sales options and product/process improvements, with utilization of computer-aided drafting both individually and/or in a team, and other duties as assigned or requested. This position requires exercising independent judgment, discretion and action in a team environment, developing optimal, cost-effective products, production processes, equipment, components and methods in accordance with customer specifications, sound engineering principles, current technology, quality, regulation compliance and industry standards. This position also supports production launch activities for new or revised products and technical support to Sales, Customer Service, Planning, Purchasing and other departments as requested. Responsibilities: • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or assigned. • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products. • Develop testing processes and perform testing and validation of new designs. • Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration. • Perform engineering calculations to support design work. • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software. • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors. • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process. • Ensure project timeline is met and project stays within budget.
