Quality Inspector - Mechanical - Level 2

We’re hiring for a Mechanical Quality Inspector in the southeast region of the US. This opportunity is for part-time (20+ hours a week) 1+ years ongoing contract position supporting the first shift working. Key Responsibilities: • Perform detailed inspection at supplier sites—visual, dimensional, and physical—on components, assemblies, and raw materials throughout various production phases (including in-process, final, and first article) to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications. • Operate and utilize precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, gauge blocks, height gauges, and profilometers to validate part conformity. • Conduct surface plate inspections and statistical lot sampling based on quality requirements. • Apply sharp visual inspection skills to identify workmanship issues and product defects, including damage such as burrs, scratches, loose fasteners, dings, and inadequate edge distances. • Identify and categorize nonconformities and confirm that corrective actions or rework have been properly executed. • Receiving shipping documentation for accuracy, confirming part numbers, serial numbers, change notices, and destination data are correct. • Assure appropriate packaging, preservation, and delivery handling upon receiving. Skills and Qualifications: • 4+ years of hands-on experience with precision mechanical parts inspection. • Strong ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and industry/commodity standards. • Proficient in GD&T and validating dimensions (tolerances ≥.005”) using hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges). • Ability to adapt to new technology and software. • Must have basic computer skills and the ability to communicate effectively via email when needed • Excellent visual acuity to detect defects in complex products. • Must be willing to undergo a background check. • Must be ITAR compliant.
