Test & Validation Engineer- Mechanical

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION To oversee, track and/or perform engineering test and validation tasks related to New Product Development (NPD), Advanced Engineering (AE), Product Care (PC) and Customer Engineering (CE) projects related to Kalmar Terminal Tractors (TT) globally based on customer needs, legislation, internal requirements, and according to business strategies. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES • In consultation with the responsible R&D Manager and engineer(s), create test plans to ensure verification and evaluation of a design before product launch. • Participate in project gate review meetings to ensure product quality standards are met prior to gate passage. Help define and uphold quality standards for Terminal Tractors in coordination with management and product safety and standards engineer. • Work with product support and warranty teams to mitigate future warranty events from future product launches. • Perform required testing of truck systems and components per test plan. • Coordinate and witness testing as required. • Assist and train prototype technicians on test set-up, equipment initialization test procedure, and data acquisition. • Create written test reports • Design test fixtures as required • Liaison with TT Engineers and component suppliers to coordinate installation audits and ensure supplier installation guidelines are followed for maximum warranty coverage. • Follow project schedules and complete tasks to meet business goals • Recommend / identify test equipment to be procured for Test Projects • Maintain test equipment logs and recalibration requirements • Ensure that components and systems meet specified technical customer demands, product safety, legislations requirements and internal durability demands for Terminal Tractor products (TT). • In consultation with the responsible R&D Manager, plan and perform your own activities according to specified requirements and time schedule. • Be a technical resource for the overall product and application of Kalmar Terminal Tractors. • Perform all other job duties as assigned and delegated by supervisor POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education: • Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering Experience: • 2-5 years in mechanical design and/or test, or electrical/software design and/or test preferred. • Automotive industry experience. • Experience with mobile equipment preferred. Competencies: • Theoretical and applied knowledge of structural, pneumatic,electrical, hydraulic, and powertrain systems related to mobile equipment. • Strong aptitude toward mechanical system design. • Good understanding of structural analysis and system testing (LMS experience preferred). • Strong skills in 3D CAD systems, CATIA V5 experience preferred. • Strong background working in a project based product development environment. • Good organization skills • Good communication skills • Good problem solving skills • Fluent in English both spoken and written WORKING TOGETHER WITH Will be required to work closely with other TT RDE personnel, TT Order Management, Project Managers, Sourcing, Production and Services groups worldwide. Field Service Technician - Ottawa, KS

Position Summary The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products currently installed in electric lift trucks, including performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. This person will be responsible for the installation and servicing of fuel cells at a specific location. This person will also be responsible for reporting breakdown events, parts ordering and maintenance of fuel cells at a specific location. This position presents a great amount of exposure to customer personnel and electric lift truck operators, and thus requires a person with excellent technical skills as well as communication, interpersonal and motivational skills. Core Duties and Responsibilities • Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites. • Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet at a specific location. • Performing specialized service procedures, including field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades to existing fuel cells. • Providing on-call and emergency support service to customers as required • Purchasing tools, equipment, and parts for customer service and support as required. • May require troubleshooting and maintenance of high-pressure hydrogen storage, 480VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high pressure gas and fueling systems. • May include maintaining ongoing communication with customer personnel hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support of fuel cells. • Providing regular feedback to regional service representatives regarding fuel cell performance and field maintenance issues. • Completing administrative duties & documentation, including: incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance and site and system documentation. • Exhibiting and enforcing safety procedures in the field or customer sites. • Travel as required for business needs; expected to drive safely and to adhere to all traffic laws • Represent Plug Power in a professional manner at all times and in all interactions • Perform other duties as assigned.
