Mechanical Testing Engineer

Mechanical Testing Engineer– Head (Erie, PA): Perform and review mechanical testing and metallographic analysis of steel, aluminum and other metal alloys per ASTM methods. Review incoming orders, tests on raw materials or finished products to ensure quality. Analyze, plan and test product failure data to develop solutions. Review backlogs and direct resources to reduce bottlenecks. Prepare reports, manuscripts, proposals, technical manuals for sponsors and customers. Lead lab techs on mechanical test methods and quality standards. Update internal technical work instructions and procedures. Manage in-house calibration systems. Mechanical Engineer

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The overall responsibility of this position is to dream up, analyze, and design mechanical packages and subsystems for our advanced precision timing and frequency control products through best practices, modular development that maximizes re-use, and product requirements and performance targets. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Design mechanical components and make necessary calculations for the success of the projects. • Responsible for running environmental simulations for structural and thermal stability, analyze the results and improve the design. • Test mechanical components per approved test plan and procedures and collect test results in a structured format. • Research and analyze components for design selection. • Develop and maintain all design documentation and review at lifecycle gates (SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, PRR). • Identify and manage issues and potential risks to the product development, and work with the team to resolve and mitigate. • Organize and prepare daily tasks to maximize time management. • Identifies and manages the company's budgetary plan for the objectives assigned and make adjustments to minimize cost impacts. • On time delivery of all tasks, communicate with the team, and be a great team player. • Track individual performance to assigned activities-, short- and long-term goals and objectives. • Works with little direction and within a structured process, system and team environment to deliver on department and company requirements.
