Job Description Work with a team to understand the contents of the larger system. Take on the ownership of a hardware module, understand, develop and improve upon its requirements. Create CAD and all documentation required for its development, build, and testing. Be detail-oriented and demonstrate a sense of pride in your work. Responsibilities • Design and develop mechanical systems for robotic applications, ensuring functionality, cost-effectiveness, and manufacturability. • Create detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and assembly instructions. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and product managers, to integrate mechanical designs with electronic and software components. • Conduct hands-on prototype building and testing, analyzing performance data to iterate on designs. • Utilize a variety of manufacturing processes and materials to optimize designs for performance and efficiency. • Participate in design reviews, presenting design concepts and demonstrating prototypes to stakeholders. • Manage documentation related to project plans, design specifications, and testing procedures. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software, with a strong portfolio showcasing past projects and designs. • Practical experience in building and testing mechanical systems; hands-on fabrication skills are highly valued. • A genuine enthusiasm for actuation, mechanisms, and robotics. • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical team members. • Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative approach to mechanical design challenges. Desirable Skills • Familiarity with simulation software for stress analysis, thermal environment, and dynamics. • Prior exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes, such as sheet metal, machining, and injection molding. Job Title Mechanical Discipline Lead Job Type Full-time Category Engineering Location Pittsburgh Office - Pittsburgh, PA 15219 US (Primary) Education Bachelor's Degree Job Description Perform a variety of engineering work in the initial planning and design phase of equipment, systems, or processes with a clear understanding of the project objectives and related regulatory and/or industry requirements and practices. Responsibilities: • Design for mechanical and process systems ranging from simple to complex. • Coordination with design team members, both in mechanical/process and other disciplines. • Develop design solutions for mechanical utility systems such as chilled water, cooling tower water, heating water, steam and condensate, compressed air, natural gas, and water. • Validate design through mechanical calculations including HVAC load calculations, air and water pressure drops. • Support work delivered from multiple office locations. • Direct project workflow of engineers, designers and drafters to ensure project completion. • Interact and collaborate with clients, vendors, and contractors. • Manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and work with Discipline Manager and Project Managers to develop contingency plans. • Participate in services during construction, including field verification, site observations reports, responses to RFIs, and submittal reviews. Job Requirements • BSME or equivalent degree from an accredited university. • Professional Engineering (PE) license required. • Experience delivering projects utilizing AutoCAD and Revit and coordinating an integrated design using coordination tools such as NavisWorks. • Demonstrated experience working in the architectural/engineering (A/E) industry supporting projects in the specialty chemicals, heavy industrial, and manufacturing industries. • Ability to travel as this position may require individuals to spend time onsite with customers. • Ability/Willingness to climb to elevated platforms via plant stairs and ladders at client sites. • Good communicator and team player. • Good technical writing ability. • Highly organized. • Must show ownership and follow-through on assigned projects. • Interest in professional growth. • Ability to learn quickly and grasp new concepts, especially as they relate to engineering and construction. • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
