Mechanical Engineer (Induction Equipment Repair / Manufacturing)

Job description We are an induction melting equipment rebuild facility supporting the foundry industry and are seeking a Mechanical Engineer. The ideal candidate will provide engineering support for our production team as well as supplier and customer inquiries. This is an entry to mid-level position. Key Responsibilities • Support the design, documentation, and validation of induction melting systems and related components. • Assist with engineering new and retrofit solutions for induction furnaces and foundry processes. • Prepare engineering documentation packages including drawings, BOMs, and fabrication specs. • Use CAD and simulation tools to design and analyze components. • Contribute to cross-functional projects from prototype to production. ________________________________________ Qualifications • Associate Degree in Engineering from an accredited University required (Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred) • Experience or internship in the manufacturing field. • High proficiency (or coursework experience) in CAD modeling (AutoCAD or Inventor), Microsoft Office and general computer skills. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. • Excellent communication skills and willingness to collaborate with customers and suppliers. • Experience in estimating labor and materials a definite plus. The candidate’s skill set should include leadership, analysis and problem-solving qualities with the ability to adapt to ever-changing production requirements. Mechanical Design Engineer

The mechanical design engineer position requires a highly skilled candidate in machine design and analysis to work in a team environment in the design and manufacture of automated industrial machinery. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, modeling, detailing, and creating Bills of Materials (BOMs) for industrial machinery in a large variety of applications and industries (aerospace, appliance, automotive and transportation, electronics, firearms, medical, metal processing, and mining & farming). You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions that meet stringent performance, cost, and quality requirements. The position also requires knowledge of general machine operation, manufacturability of materials and designs, and the ability to design for assembly and manufacture. A successful mechanical design engineer will be technically oriented with strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. The position requires the following knowledge, skills, and abilities. MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES: · Create and model automation machines based on customer specifications and “as sold” proposals · Perform design calculation and analysis · Create, verify, and maintain design/arrangement drawings, and detail/manufacturing drawings (Fabrication and Machining) · Create piping and instrumentation diagrams for pneumatic, hydraulic and lubrication systems · Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability · Create and maintain project documentation (i.e. manuals, spare part lists, sequence of operations, lock out tagout diagrams, etc.) for analysis, research, and historical records · Assisting the quality and inspection group on non-conformances as they are found · Assisting assembly floor, and test department as required for machine setup and troubleshooting · Assisting the purchasing group and collaborating with vendors in responding to questions and requests for concessions or deviations MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: · Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology · 5+ years of experience in mechanical design and engineering. · Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred). · Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science · Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, fabrication and DMFA · Knowledge in component design, manufacturing, materials/heat treating, and GD&T · Experience with GD&T and tolerance analysis · Strong problem-solving and analytical skills · Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills · Ability to work independently and as part of a team · Proficient in Microsoft Office products · Proven ability to work with cross-functional and global teams · Strong interpersonal skills, proven leadership skills and a positive energy · The candidate selected will need to be an excellent communicator and can work in a team-oriented environment with minimal direct supervision, be adaptable to processes and company policy · Able to adapt to changing priorities · Sense of urgency in resolving conflicts, implementing changes to product design, and meeting project deadlines · Ensure the projects stay within budgeted hours and material cost · Ability to accomplish clear and concise general and technical writing and tactfully coordinate with a variety of project stake holders, customers, suppliers, peers and management levels · Act consistently with our core values: Act with Integrity, Be the Solution, and Crossing Boundaries PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: · Working knowledge of Geometric Tolerancing, Weld Sizing and Fits/Finishes · ANSI B11.19 Safety regulations knowledge · Basic knowledge on Lean and Six Sigma concepts · Experience with FEA and FEA principles (SolidWorks FEA Package preferable) Essential Physical Functions Needed: · Primarily work sitting at a computer station · Regular/Frequent standing, walking, kneeling, and squatting · Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, and crawling · Exposure to fumes, noise, and changes in temperature · May require hands on work with basic hand tools · Able to lift, carry, and maneuver objects weighing up to 25 pounds · Ability to travel occasionally for site visits and meetings (minimum travel) Equipment Used: · Computer · Calibers · Micrometers · SolidWorks · AutoCAD · MS Office products Job Type: Full-time Benefits: • 401(k) • Dental insurance • Health insurance • Health savings account • Life insurance • Paid time off • Vision insurance Work Location: In person
