Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer

Scope Responsible for mechanical engineering effort as necessary to support plant operations, process improvements, capital projects, design file maintenance, and personnel development. This effort contributes to improved plant performance and profitability through optimization of engineering effectiveness. Functions • Engineer and design modifications to existing equipment to improve production and reduce maintenance costs. • Direct and coordinate major overhauls and rebuilds to improve quality and yield. Maintain minimum downtime and production delays. • Communicate and coordinate equipment maintenance requirements and activities with the maintenance department regarding manpower and downtime requirements, acquiring input form equipment operators and maintenance staff. • Oversee preventive maintenance activity, such as long-range planning to ensure maximum production and utilization of production equipment. • Coordinate with contractors on design and implementation of new equipment regarding required maintenance and replacement parts to ensure optimal utilization and longevity of equipment. • Maintain equipment to comply with local, state and federal government and insurance company regulations. • Direct and coordinate bargaining unit employees as required. Promote safe and healthy workplace. Ensure optimal labor relations by adhering to the contract and Company policies. Maintain good housekeeping and organization within the department. Minimum Requirements: • Participate in continuous improvement of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, 9001, IATF 16949 programs and procedures though active participation in the near miss program. • Handles containerizing and labeling universal wastes including batteries and lamps, as well as spent aerosol cans(HW). • 5 years’ experience • BS Degree- Mechanical Engineering Specifications • Reports to: Manager, Annealing & Slitting • FLSA Status: Non-exempt • Wieland Buffalo Inc. is an equal opportunity employer. Sr. Mechanical Engineer - Full-time

We are currently hiring a mid-level Mechanical Engineer in our Building Engineering Division – Energy Infrastructure team in our Buffalo, NY office. LaBella’s Energy Infrastructure team provides comprehensive energy efficiency and renewable energy consultancy, including feasibility analyses, and design of mechanical systems. Our engineers are well-versed in all aspects of building and energy systems design relating to a variety of new construction, renovations, and design/build projects for a variety of clientele. The Mechanical Engineer will work with our engineers in a lead role on a variety of decarbonization/electrification projects to develop projects in feasibility stages all the way through design and construction. A successful candidate will be able to work well in a team, mentor junior engineers, and communicate effectively with clients. Duties • Lead design of building HVAC systems and district energy systems • Field investigations to document existing conditions • Selection and calculations for design purposes • Work with Jr Engineers to develop and review project drawings and documentation • Interact directly with clients by completing analysis of design options, cost benefit comparisons, and communicating results to assist in decision making process. • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and utility requirements Requirements • 8-10 years of relevant experience • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred • Well-rounded experience in HVAC and hydronic system design • Preferred: experience designing geothermal or district energy systems • Experience with Revit or AutoCAD • New York State Professional Engineer’s license is a plus • Excellent verbal and written communication skills Salary Range: $80,000 - $120,000 per year The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location. What you’ll bring to the team: • Associate’s degree in Design/Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related technical field; relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree • 3-5 years of HVAC and/or plumbing systems design experience for both the private and public sectors; previous consulting experience highly desired • Must be familiar with HVAC load calculation software • Must have experience with preparing building mechanical system drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit • Highly developed communication skills, both oral and written • Proven ability to devise approaches to problem resolution • Ability to be proactive and take ownership of the task involved Salary Range: $31.00 - $64.00 based on experience and location.
