Mechanical Field Technician

Job Responsibilities: • Perform maintenance and repairs on overhead cranes and related equipment at customer facilities. • Weld structural steel and other components as needed. • Diagnose mechanical problems with equipment in heavy industrial manufacturing facilities. • Work as a team with other technicians and project engineers to perform major installations, upgrades, and modifications. • You will be trained to perform documented safety inspections of specific types of equipment in keeping with OSHA guidelines. • Perform scheduled inspections and preventative maintenance in accordance with applicable guidelines, consulting with customers regarding all noted deficiencies and completing all required paperwork. • Responsible for documentation of hours, services performed, writing service acknowledgments, and working with computers. Qualifications: • HS Diploma or GED • At least 3 years in an industrial environment or similar Military Experience. • Skills and experience in welding, electrical and mechanical maintenance. • Experience as an ironworker, millwright or facilities maintenance is preferred. • Team approach to problem solving. • Computer literate; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook. • Must have a valid driver’s license. • Ability to interface with internal and external customers. • Travel Required. • Eligible to work various shifts. • Ability to work at customers facilities including the extreme elements indoors and outdoors. • Ability to work from heights. • Work in accordance with OSHA, CMAA, ANSI, ASME, AWS, and other applicable regulations. Engineering provides support to other departments including Purchasing, Manufacturing, and Quality. This will include mechanical drafting work and an “apprentice” program in the manufacturing shop environment. Skills: • Ability to communicate clearly to peers, management, customers, and vendors. Robust written and verbal communication capabilities are both a must. • Proficiency in 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD • Familiarity with ANSI drawing standards and geometric tolerancing preferred. • Applied attention to detail in order to review work of peers such as checking drawings, customer contract reviews, technical proposals, etc. • Ability to self-manage work in an environment of numerous competing tasks, including wherewithal to ask for help when needed. • Familiarity with non-destructive testing (NDT) and other manufacturing and inspection aspects are preferred.
