Controls Engineer

Job Title: Controls Engineer Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Controls Engineer for a 12-month contract position with the potential to transition to a direct hire. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting all automated equipment within the facility, from design to implementation, in accordance with customer requirements and company policies. This includes direct support for the entire facility, working on manufacturing equipment, improving systems to minimize downtime, and integrating error-proofing controls. Responsibilities • Debug and troubleshoot existing control systems • Maintain all existing PLCs, programs, and network • Troubleshoot and repair fiber laser markers, specifically Rofin, Keyence, and Automated Laser • Integrate and troubleshoot servo motors • Manage label printing interfaces • Maintain, debug, and troubleshoot all Cognex/Keyence vision system programs, hardware, and software • Maintain, troubleshoot, and integrate part present/color sensors, RFID technology, barcode readers, and test equipment (predominantly Banner, Keyence, and Cognex) • Integrate data transfer via ethernet, keyboard wedges, serial transfer, etc. • Maintain all existing Fanuc Robots (software and hardware) • Install and troubleshoot PLCs • Read, troubleshoot, and generate electrical blueprints • Draw using AutoCAD or other software to generate electrical blueprints • Provide engineering support for all commissioning and validation initiatives for new equipment • Provide maintenance engineering support for all automated equipment • Provide off-hour technical support and on-call response when required • Define and generate system requirements and system specifications for new equipment • Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, control plans, and PFMEAs • Develop procedures to support and maintain the automation network infrastructure • Supervise electrical and mechanical trades and contractors during control system installations Essential Skills • Ability to write code from scratch in PLCs • Ability to read and redline in AutoCAD or Solidworks Additional Skills & Qualifications • Ability to program Fanuc robots • Experience with vision systems • Knowledge of lean manufacturing • Experience with Toyota production systems • Experience with robotics • Familiarity with Siemens PLCs • Technical degree in engineering preferred Work Environment The work environment includes cubicles between manufacturing cells, which can be noisy at times. All employees have radios for communication. The role involves spending 50% of the time on the manufacturing floor and 50% in office space. Initially, more time will be spent on the floor to learn processes. The position follows a 9-80 schedule, working 9-hour days Monday-Friday and then Monday-Thursday with Friday off. On-call support is required, but most issues can be resolved remotely. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $41.00/hr.
