Mechanical Project Engineer, Holland, MI

MECHANICAL PROJECT ENGINEERJob Description The Project Engineer is a combined role of engineering and project management. They will design and manage projects that include machines, tooling, and/or overall dispensing systems. The duties include but are not limited to design of the machine frame, tooling to nest and dispense on a customer part, and the selection or design of our standard dispensing system components. Project Engineer needs hands-on experience, a diverse skill background (mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical), and strong work ethic. The Project Engineer is most often the project manager interfacing with the customer. As a project manager they will ensure the completion of project on time to the customers expectation as quoted. Responsibilities: · Conduct the mechanical machine design, component selection, coordinate the machine debug, power-up, and machine validation with build and electrical team members. · Perform project management functions (budget, schedule, deliverables) and ensure the project team adheres to all milestone dates. · Write sequence of operation and functional specifications for projects utilizing PLC controls. · Ensure that equipment is designed and programmed to customer and/or GP Reeves build specifications using standard techniques and approaches. · Setup and perform machine run off internally and with customers. · Testing and research & development · Participate in customer site activities related to system implementation, commissioning, testing, and service. · Handle support calls. · Overtime may be necessary based on customer orders including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays. · Participate in all company functions and meetings. · Other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: · Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience or degree. · Proficient in 3D CAD design software, preferably SolidWorks. · Skilled in using associated PC software including Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc.). · Strong problem solving and technical skills. · Solid electromechanical system testing ability is required. · Project management experience and skills. (Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills). Preferred (But Not Required) Experience: · Experienced in Automation and Machine Design · Experienced in Process and Manufacturing Engineering Character Competencies · Ethical conduct. · Critical thinking, judgement, and decision-making skills. · Must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and solving customer challenges. · Ability to work successfully in a team environment with excellent communication skills. · Time management and organizational skills are essential. · Enjoy a combination of office work and hands on work alongside the Machine Builders. · Must be able to effectively present information to management and customers. · Ability to effectively respond to common inquiries and complaints from customers. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. This position also acts as a mentor for other positions in the company to grow functional knowledge. Travel Requirements Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for installation support or service on domestic trips usually within driving distance of our headquarters, a short flight, or occasional international trips of typically less than 1 week in length.
