Key Responsibilities • Lead mechanical design of machines and tooling to meet customer specifications, prioritizing reliability, safety, and simplicity. • Develop and optimize standard components to create efficient and cost-effective designs. • Create space-efficient designs manufactured at minimal cost with reduced engineering time. • Collaborate with project teams to ensure designs meet timelines and specifications. • Provide accurate documentation for customer approval and project milestones. • Obtain competitive supplier quotations, considering lead times to maintain project schedules. • Estimate and manage engineering hours to align with project budgets. • Support shop personnel during machine build, startup, debugging, and testing. • Assist service and training teams during machine startup at customer facilities. • Attend project meetings to discuss progress, scheduling, and technical requirements. • Stay updated on industry trends and recommend innovative solutions for design improvements. Qualifications • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. • 3–5 years of experience in machine tools or related industries. • Experience with engines or powertrains is a plus. • Proficiency in AutoCAD, 3D SolidWorks, and Microsoft 365. • Strong analytical skills to interpret data, identify patterns, and provide actionable recommendations. • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of working independently. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Willingness to work hands-on in manufacturing facilities and travel domestically/internationally as needed. Your Role: The successful candidate will use Building Information Modeling software to provide engineering drafting/design support for process mechanical work on Municipal, Industrial, and Commercial water and wastewater treatment plant and pump station projects. Primary Responsibility Include: • Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to set up and manage construction drawings • Prepare dimensional drawings, create and/or modify base drawings • Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes • Create and manage electronic document file structure, naming conventions in accordance with company standards • Work a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output • Work on multiple projects at the same time to successful completion • Follow CAD/BIM standards, whether the customer’s or Tetra Tech’s • Work with project teams on drawings which meet and exceed the customer’s requirements (bid and submittal phase). Qualifications: • Associate’s degree of completion in CAD drafting or related field from a technical trade school, plus at least two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Experience using Autodesk Revit for process piping or plumbing drawings while following client standards.
