JOB DESCRIPTION The Water Resources Design Engineer I will be responsible for planning, designing, and managing water resource projects to ensure efficient and sustainable use of water resources. This role involves working on a variety of projects, stormwater management, and flood control. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Performs assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities requiring application of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related engineering tasks • Limited exercise of judgment is required on details of work and in making preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives • Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer • Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjusts and correlates data, recognizes discrepancies in results and follows operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes • Assists in the preparation of design plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications for projects • Assists in the preparation of calculations, quantities, cost estimates and other supporting documentation for projects • May perform plan drafting using AutoCAD or MicroStation software • May direct and review the work of Technicians • May serve as an onsite project representative on a construction site Physical presence is an essential function of this job. Your Role: The successful candidate will use Building Information Modeling software to provide engineering drafting/design support for process mechanical work on Municipal, Industrial, and Commercial water and wastewater treatment plant and pump station projects. Primary Responsibility Include: • Work closely with Project Managers and Engineers to set up and manage construction drawings • Prepare dimensional drawings, create and/or modify base drawings • Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes • Create and manage electronic document file structure, naming conventions in accordance with company standards • Work a typical set of project documents from beginning to end with professional quality output • Work on multiple projects at the same time to successful completion • Follow CAD/BIM standards, whether the customer's or Tetra Tech's • Work with project teams on drawings which meet and exceed the customer's requirements (bid and submittal phase). Qualifications: • Associate's degree of completion in CAD drafting or related field from a technical trade school, plus at least two years of related work experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Experience using Autodesk Revit for process piping or plumbing drawings while following client standards. For Autodesk Revit experience, knowledge linking files, setting up plan views, using view templates, and worksets is preferred. • Excellent communications skills: Interpersonal, listening, oral and written • Knowledge using Autodesk AutoCAD is a plus • Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office • Able to generate layout drawings from sketches and specifications • Familiar with design parameters related to process mechanical piping • Knowledgeable of standard drafting practices and procedures • Able to work with minimal supervision, exercise independent judgment • Able to efficiently schedule and manage time • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member • Must be able to achieve generally stated objectives and requirements Physical Demands: • Able to concentrate for extended periods of time paying close attention to detail.
