Position Summary Prepare detailed 2D and 3D mechanical drawings and assembly instructions for piping and equipment systems including pumps, valves, boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and related structures. Work closely with engineers to translate specifications and design intent into production ready documentation. Essential Functions To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. • Maintain reliable attendance during scheduled shifts and overtime, arriving on time and ready to work. • Create 3D models and production drawings using computer-aided drafting software (Revit preferred). • Lay out and plan interior arrangements for modular or field-installed mechanical systems such as chiller plants, boiler plants, mechanical pump skids, refrigeration skids, and air handling units. • Produce detailed scaled plans for mechanical piping systems, ductwork, conduit, electrical panels, structural steel, bases, walls, roofs, and related assemblies from preliminary sketches or engineering data. • Coordinate structural, electrical, and mechanical design interfaces under engineer supervision. • Read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs); understand equipment function, operation, and installation constraints. • Develop piping layouts for chilled water, hot water, domestic water, natural gas, fuel oil, venting, and combustion air systems based on equipment data and space requirements. • Analyze construction and space limitations to determine impacts on design. • Collect and organize data necessary to complete designs. • Assist engineers by verifying design conformance to specifications and recommending design adjustments when required. • Check dimensions, materials, and tolerances for accuracy and manufacturability. • Coordinate with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure drawings accurately reflect construction details. • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
