ABOUT THE ROLE The mechanical designer/draftsman develops, revises, and assembles drawings required for mechanical design changes and installations for the site. The position involves creating 3D inventor models, setting up Auto-desk vault to maintain site drawing record archives, and suppling prints to vendors, contractors and SCJ personnel in support of site operations. They are also responsible for CAD software management including installation and upgrades required to maintain software. This role reports directly to the Site LEAN Manager. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Responsible for creation and maintenance of Bay City mechanical drawings including archives and records transferred into the Autodesk Vault system • Oversee software installation and upgrades to ensure all systems run the most current version • Furnish requested drawings for vendors, contractors and site personnel • Design assembly prints that include bill of materials, dimensions, and construction notes • Review and revise drawings ensuring adherence to SCJ standards • Utilize site Management of Change software to document updates • Create 3D Inventor models REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING • Minimum 10 years’ experience developing and maintaining drawings in a manufacturing environment • Valid Driver’s license as on-site work is required • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States • Military experience considered in lieu of education requirement PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS • Strong background in AutoCAD • Experience in 3D Inventor modeling • Experience in set-up and use of Autodesk Vault, including conversion of drawings to required format • Experience working in a manufacturing environment • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner using the appropriate methodologies • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills, balances team and individual responsibilities, and builds constructive relationships to achieve goals collaboratively • Displays creativity and resourcefulness which generate innovative approaches and ideas • Knowledge and experience in Lean Manufacturing methodologies JOB REQUIREMENTS • Full time with operational support outside core business hours as needed to support the 24x7 Manufacturing environment • Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations: Standing and walking for extended periods of time, climbing stairs, wear all required personal protective equipment, and use of basic hand tools • This position is not eligible for remote work • The position is not eligible for domestic relocation • Ability to work in plant manufacturing environments as well as in office Inclusion & Diversity We’re a global business, with people from every culture, ethnicity, race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age and ability.
