Mechanical Engineer II - Culture & Civic

Deliver Results • Design and develop mechanical systems, including load analysis, equipment and ductwork sizing, and plumbing/hydronic systems in accordance with firm standards and project goals. • Produce building models and contract documents using Revit and other tools, ensuring coordination across disciplines and consultants. • Participate in project quality reviews, code compliance meetings, site visits, and QA/QC processes throughout all design phases. • Guide the use of emerging technologies and improve documentation consistency and efficiency. • Maintain project schedules and budgets through proactive communication and workload management. • Assist in proposal development, documentation of scope changes, and internal team meetings to ensure alignment. • Lead and participate in lessons learned reviews and act as an ambassador of ethical, high-quality design. Your Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an EAC/ABET-accredited program (or equivalent required for licensure). • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with current registration; NCEES registration and NSPE membership a plus. • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with a wide variety of building types and project scales. • Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD; experience with Speclink and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with Project, SharePoint, and Teams preferred. • Demonstrated expertise in designing and documenting mechanical systems, including load analysis, ductwork and equipment sizing, hydronic and plumbing systems, and fire protection. • Strong coordination experience with architects, engineers, consultants, and jurisdictions. • CSI-CDT certification preferred; LEED AP BD+C and/or WELL AP credential is a plus (training provided if not currently held). • Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Mechanical Engineer II

Shift 1 (United States of America) The Mechanical Engineer reports to the Engineering Director and the position’s responsibilities include • Designing new machines, systems, or improvements to existing machines and ovens for the production of cookie and snack products • Supporting the Aftermarket Business Unit with design of kits to up-grade existing equipment, and engineering solutions to improve customer’s operations. • Researching and selecting parts to purchase and use in designs • Lead new and Aftermarket projects in all mechanical and thermal engineering aspects • Lead site visits for dough testing and troubleshooting • Provide Sales Department with engineered solutions, project scope, drawing, and support for costing • Provide correct specifications for cost estimating purposes • Maintaining technical electronic records and documentation for all assigned design projects; providing the Technical Documentation Department the necessary information to prepare operational instructions and safety manuals • Convert drawings BOM’s into Epicor (ERP system) • Prepare and execute thorough drawings and equipment lists for project management to place orders • Assist with cost reduction initiatives and development charters • Providing assistance to the Field Service Department in project installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting site issues (travel to site as required) • Proficiency in 3D modeling (Inventor, NX), 2D drafting, AutoCad products, and Microsoft Office products • Experienced in geometric tolerances, welding symbols, surface finishes, metrics, and ISO standards • Strong ability to work well with others, particularly in a group or team setting • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with customers and internal team members on a technical and commercial level • Expert in the ability to apply materials of construction (including sheet metal) and purchased components such as belts, bearings, gear motors, hardware, etc. • Experienced in hygienic design for the food industry preferred • Familiar with State, Federal, and various equipment safety standards preferred (OSHA, FM, NFPA, and ANSI) • Familiar with National Electrical Codes and industry standards • Perform other duties as assigned Education and/or Experience Prerequisites • Masters or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering • Thermal dynamics experience preferred • Five years’ experience in food equipment design preferred Physical Demands and Work Environment • Ability to travel independently via foot, air, rail, automobile or public transportation • Ability to negotiate stairs, ladders, walkways and equipment surfaces • Willingness to be available for weekends, odd hours, and extra time as required to complete tasks in a timely fashion • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. • May be out in manufacturing environment. #LI-JM1 Who we are: Coperion is an industry leader in compounding and extrusion, feeding and weighing, bulk material handling and service, bringing a wealth of know-how and experience to the market.
