Title: Service Engineer Reports to: Service Coordinator Location: DMG MORI TC Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm Classification: Non Exempt Travel: 50% Employment is conditioned on DMG MORI's ability to obtain and maintain any necessary export licensing. Service Engineers are expected to provide customers with maintenance and repair assistance of DMG MORI CNC machine tools on location or by telephone. Responsibilities include up to and not limited to: • Provide customers with maintenance, repair, and installation assistance of DMG MORI CNC machine tools on location or by telephone. • Creating and updating documentation of technical information. • Developing, preparing, generating, and analyzing ongoing and ad-hoc special reports pertaining to Service • Demonstrating a willingness to help others and be a team member; often working together with Customer’s Service Engineers. • Providing assistance and training to Customer’s Service Engineers on the installation and maintenance of newer product lines. • Establish and build exemplary communication and customer service relationships with customers. • Manage difficult customer situations in a positive manner, respond promptly to customer needs and solicit customer feedback to improve service. • Other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements: • Bachelors or Associates Degree in technical related field of study preferred. • 3-5 years of experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and maintenance of CNC machine tools. • Experience working with DMG or MORI SEIKI machines, Fanuc, Mitsubishi, and/or Siemens and controls are a PLUS. • Good verbal and written communication skills with exceptional customer service orientation. • Must be able to interact and effectively communicate in person and over the phone with people at all levels of an organization. • Proven ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and sequence (PLC) ladder diagrams. • Basic computer literacy and working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. • Must be adaptable to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events. • Minimum of 50% travel in multi-state region; drive or fly depending on distance. Employee is expected to work at the Technical Center when not visiting customers. Work Environment: Exposure to manufacturing/machining environments which may present possible hazards such as noise, electricity, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other automated and manual machinery. General office environment experienced at DMG MORI office. Physical Demands: Frequent: Travel, operating a vehicle, sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, stooping, and reaching. Position Summary: • Performs technical support to customers at their manufacturing facilities including machine tool troubleshooting, repair, and installation of electro-mechanical systems, subsystems and components. • Professionally interacts with customer personnel including shop floor maintenance technicians, supervisors, and machine operators. Effectively communicates to remote support staff at Gleason including service team members, supervision, and engineering to gather technical information. Professionally and thoroughly document troubleshooting steps, findings, and repairs implemented. Actively communicates status and planned next actions to customers, keeping them informed of repair status. • Performs extensive travel domestically and internationally including multi-week deployments for service projects and/or machine installations. Job Responsibilities: • Maintain the highest level of integrity and trustworthiness in all actions and personal behaviors. Continually apply a high level of personal accountability to drive closure to customer issues. • Work interdependent with customer personnel, 3rd party electricians, mechanics, millwrights, senior Gleason service or application engineers and other skilled trades to complete tasks of a project and/or machine tool cell installations. • Perform service and travel activities according to company policies and safety standards. Understand and practice governing safety requirements within Gleason facilities and/or those in affect at customer plants. • Continuously improve personal and technical skills to service machines to customer’s satisfaction by keeping current with product technology as measured by ability to troubleshoot various machine models. • Trouble-shoot, repair, and replace electrical systems and sub-systems with a sound understanding of complex circuitry including components such as; CNC drives/amplifiers, servomotors, PLC’s, glass scales, rotary encoders, safety switches, and similar electrical/electro-mechanical components employed in advanced machine tool systems. • Communicate, both verbally and in written format(s) the status of machine trouble-shooting, repair, and operation professionally. Manage on-site (at customer) interactions, using a fact-based communication style including detail of accomplished tasks, results, next steps, and associated timelines for next activities. • Provide coaching and informal training to customer personnel regarding the efficient and effective use and maintenance of Gleason products. • Independently analyze machine malfunctions and resolve problems in machine tool system operation/performance. • Interact with Gleason internal project management during field installation/service projects acting as an on-site project manager. Identify and coordinate work tasks, associated inputs and outputs, assign and perform work tasks according to project schedule requirements and develop countermeasures for instances of non-performance according to project plan milestones. • Effectively provide formal classroom and shop floor customer on-site Operator, Mechanical, and Electrical Maintenance training. • Effectively diagnose Gleason machine problems remotely utilizing Gleason Connect technology • Provide assistance and guidance/mentoring to Level I Field Service Technicians. • Develop and improve product service technical documentation (i.e.; Service Program documentation, work processes and procedures). Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities): • Basic Computer skills including use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to use Concur web-based online expense reporting system to reconcile weekly expense bills in accordance with Corporate expense policy. Ability to use SAP quality system tools (ITL’s and OSAR’s) to report machine issues during the commissioning of machine tools. • Highly precise and written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally to customer maintenance and management personnel as well as internal Gleason technical personnel. • Self-starter and motivated with the ability to manage various phases of troubleshooting, repair, and reporting in an environment of high urgency and multiple priorities. • Assertive, creative, decisive, and self-confident with a professional appearance and demeanor leading to the development of sound customer relationships and mutual respect. • Detailed working knowledge of blueprint and schematic reading for hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and mechanical systems with complexity typical of CNC machine tool applications. • Excel at “hands-on” troubleshooting and repair of machine tool systems. • Able to determine tools and equipment required to perform scope of work. • Proficient in troubleshooting, testing, tuning, and adjusting machine tool elements to obtain optimum operating performance with Fanuc and Siemens-based control systems. Preferred Education/Training/Experience: • Associates Degree(A.S.) from an accredited two year technical program, Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) considered a plus. • 3 year(s) related experience in machine tool trouble shooting, repair and/or maintenance function. On-Site Applications Engineer

The Application Engineer sees it all-design, manufacturing, installation and operation of our pumps and seals at our customers' sites in the oil and chemical industries. In this challenging position the Application Engineer (AE) provides real-time technical support to our customers, and provides recommendations for repairs, upgrades, and replacement equipment. The AE is actively engaged in troubleshooting problems and implementing solutions onsite at a nearby customer facility. Responsibilities: • Communicate the needs of customers to Flowserve and be the customers' primary source of information regarding design, application, installation, operation, and maintenance of our centrifugal and liquid ring vacuum pumps, and mechanical seals. • Act as liaison between customers and Flowserve's sales engineers, reliability engineers, customer service, and manufacturing. • Troubleshoot technical problems at our customers' sites and in-house at our Flowserve Quick Response Repair Center. • Complete projects requiring both hands-on and mathematical approaches such as failure analysis reports, product performance reports, etc. • Evaluate reports and data to support recommendations for improvement, replacement, or repair of equipment. • Present clear verbal and written technical explanations to customers, tailoring content, and style to the audience. • Implement and administer the mechanical seal standardization and customer specification process. • Help organize and ensure monthly "Bad Actor" meetings to maintain visibility on equipment performance. • Provide technical guidance about successful installation and operation of our products, ensuring that standardized installation procedures are followed. • Maintain data regarding customers' equipment and parts inventories, responding with appropriate actions regarding inventory reduction and consolidation. • Maintain data in engineering systems; process engineering change notices; submit corrective action reports; and maintain current, accurate, organized files. • Help conduct technical training as needed for our customers. Requirements: • BS Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience required. • All levels of experience will be considered, including new grads and mid-career. In-plant operations experience highly desired. • Knowledge of the design, materials, and operational requirements of mechanical seals and rotating equipment, especially centrifugal and liquid ring vacuum pumps, required. • Must have a strong customer focus and project a positive corporate image. • Must be a team player, able to problem-solve and work with constructively with customers and co-workers. • Good organizational skills, able to establish priorities and work to specific deadlines. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Computer literate and savvy. • Local travel using personal vehicle, and some overnight travel required. • Some physical activity required (e.g., walking large customer sites, and ascending/descending ladders and staircases in multi-story facilities). • May be required to meet certain medical and physical requirements to perform duties on customer operating facilities.
