Mechanical Engineer

We are currently hiring a Mechanical Engineer in our Building Engineering Division at our Ithaca, NY office. The Building Engineering Division at LaBella provides complete building engineering services including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural engineering. Services range from feasibility studies and analysis through project design and construction. Our engineers are well versed in new construction, renovations, additions, analysis, special structures, and design/build projects for a variety of clients. The Mechanical Engineer will work with engineers as part of a project team to provide HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs, studies and technical support as required to fulfill project requirements. Typical projects will involve field work, design, and construction administration services. A successful candidate will be able to work well in a team to develop concepts, strategies, designs, drawings, specifications and reports for Building and Renovation projects. Duties • System selection and calculations for design purposes • Conduct field work to document existing conditions • Work with Jr Engineers to develop drawings with building modeling software • Work independently and as part of a team to complete project designs • Construction phase services such as submittal review and site visits to monitor project progress Requirements • 4 – 6 years of experience working at an A/E consulting firm is preferred • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred • Well rounded experience in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection • Experience with Revit or AutoCAD is preferred • Field experience is preferred • New York State Professional Engineer’s license is a plus • Ability to work well with a team and good analytical skills Salary range: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year Benefits Body, mind, and wallet—LaBella’s benefits support a holistic approach to your health and wellness, creating the foundation for physical, mental, and financial well-being. Job Purpose The Validation Engineer works with other engineers and managers on defining test requirements, using company standard procedures or developing measurement systems to determine requested information, as well as coordinating Technicians and Designers to assist in completing requested testing. For training and development purposes, assignments may include some work that is typical of a higher-level position. Key Responsibilities The incumbent will be expected to perform measurement engineering duties on many forms of rotating machinery, typically powertrain related. (S)He is expected to work in a research and development environment with mechanical and low voltage electrical equipment to provide valid measurements. This will include • Troubleshooting of rotating mechanical systems and low voltage measurement systems. • Working with signal conditioning and data acquisition equipment. • Programming of engineering software (MATLAB®) to facilitate data reduction and analysis. • Reducing and analysing timing drive systems. This includes rotational as well as linear vibrations working in the frequency and time domain. • Effectively communicating results and issues verbally as well as in written report form. • Design and development of systems to measure specified quantities. • Completion of requested tests within a reasonable timetable. • Coordinate test fixture design and execution of tests using a Designer and Technician(s), respectively. • Reduction and analysis of acquired data. • Responsible for the accurate communication of test results and issues with supervisor, engineers, technicians, and test request originators. What We Are Looking For • BS in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology, master’s degree preferred. • Proficient understanding of rotating mechanical systems. • 5+ years of experience in related field preferred Visa language BorgWarner does provide sponsorship for employment visa status based on business need.
