Maintenance Engineer

Job Function: Serves as primary mechanical engineering resource to paper maintenance team. Leads technical design-outs of known issues. Provides project leadership to new capital equipment installation, retrofits, major maintenance, or reliability improvement efforts. Provides mechanical training to maintenance technicians to improve team member development and skill depth. Provides support to Paper Maintenance Pay for Skills program to assist with training efforts within the team. Ensures that the Paper Maintenance Pay for Skills system fully supports the Safety, Quality, Housekeeping, and maintenance goals for the long-term sustainability of the program. Provides maintenance supervision when needed. Duties and Responsibilities: • Promote reliability growth within the Paper Department by providing leadership in the development and implementation of: • Root Cause Analysis – documenting failures, analyzing repetitive failures, analyzing major failures, training maintenance and production personnel, develop/manage corrective action database, recommend and implement fixes for root causes. • Precision maintenance techniques – developing and implementing standards-based repair procedures, documenting repairs, developing vendor standards. • Preventive maintenance programs – Develop tools and techniques to analyze and develop cost effective preventive maintenance procedures. • New equipment installations – providing assistance in developing standards-based installation procedures for new equipment using best available practices. • Reliability improvements – identify, plan, and implement projects to improve the inherent reliability of plant equipment. • Promote availability growth by providing leadership in the development and implementation of: • Effective predictive maintenance program – developing and implementing a standardized monitoring program including vibration analysis, infrared inspections, non- destructive testing, and other Pdm techniques throughout the facility. • Effective maintenance planning and scheduling – participating in daily line meetings and weekly planning and scheduling meetings, providing vibration and lubrication analysis reports to aid in setting shutdown schedules. • Effective repair techniques – developing and implementing standards-based repair procedures, documenting repairs, developing, and implementing vendor standards. • Promote maintainability growth by providing leadership in the development and implementation of: • Equipment and Procedure Modifications – identify and implement modifications to equipment and/or procedures that reduce the time required to repair/replace equipment. • Champion vendor services to maximize quality, performance, and reliability of equipment repairs.
