Maintenance Engineer (Technician)

POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the facility including major mechanical systems, fire & life-safety equipment, grounds, parking, lighting systems, plumbing, kitchen equipment, electrical, controls and any other systems and equipment comprising the physical structure and appurtenant infrastructure. Duties and responsibilities include being a role model of our core values of Fun, Friendly and Community. To ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, aesthetics and guest satisfaction are maintained; ensure compliance with all training/licensure requirements of staff; and able to assist with the general upkeep of the facilities. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this class and are not all inclusive. 1. Be a motivated individual with resources to accomplish established objectives. 2. Execute and influence quality guest service and profitability. 3. Follow department standards, guidelines and objectives to maintain efficient operations of the Kansas Crossing Facility. 4. Assist in managing utility expenses through operational efficiencies. 5. Execute maintenance programs and maintain service records as required. 6. Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, kitchen, and other equipment throughout the property. 7. Maintains the building exterior and curb appeal for snow removal, lawn care, painting, and other actions as directed. 8. Executes all routine maintenance and operation of physical structure of the casino, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility. 9. Ensures work processes are OSHA and Hazcom compliant to include complying with all departmental MSDS sheets and procedures. 10. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, providing clear communication to the Chief Engineer on the details of work performed. 11. Answer radio or other communications regarding complaints/concerns and take appropriate action from all KCC departments. 12. Work efficiently and guarantee maximum productivity and guest satisfaction with a minimal supervision performing assigned task. 13. Attend all required meetings to obtain and disseminate pertinent information. 14. Evaluate condition of furniture, fixtures, décor, etc., which requires continuous visual inspection of public areas. Make repairs as needed or as directed by the Director of Security & Facilities or the Chief Engineer. 15. Maintain and Operate all equipment safely and at the recommendation of all Standard operating practices set forth by the equipment manufacturer or the Facility Standard Operating Procedures. 16. Conduct him/her in a gracious, kind and warm manner that creates a sense of fondness, as well as professional, courteous and responsive manner, which reflects positively on the company and its core values of Fun, Family and Community. 17. Participate on property Safety Committee as assigned. 18. Performs other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management. A minimum 3 years in engineering, facility operations or a related area. Must have an occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training and/or on-the-job training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Ability to: read, analyze, interpret and comprehend technical procedures, government regulations, business periodicals, instructions, and correspondence/memos; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or staff, guests and the general public. Working knowledge of Excel and Word preferred. Attention to detail and accuracy. Maintain confidential information. COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to the other duties described herein, each and every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations: • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino. • Obtain required license(s). • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations. • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco. • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department. • Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gambling. • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with the state regulations and Systems of Internal Controls. • Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management. • Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member that they have knowledge of.

Engineering Technician

Engineering Technician Ongoing Department(s): Public Works and Utilities Location: Pittsburg, KS Position Summary Engineering Technician – Performs technical paraprofessional engineering work using computer assisted drafting aids; performs field inspection of public works and utility projects; performs related work as required. Uses available software (Computer Aided Drafting or Civil 3D) aids to generate construction plans for in-house design projects and performs construction engineering on City and City’s applicable KDOT projects. Qualifications DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Use basic surveying skills to gather information for various projects for design or construction considerations • Obtain and maintain the following Inspection Certifications under KDOT’s Certified Inspector Program (CIP): Basic Inspection, Concrete Pavement Inspection, Structures • Conducts inspections of public projects for compliance with City regulations • Collects required material samples for testing • Prepares and develops special maps, graphs and charts using computer techniques and civil engineering programs for special projects, including Commission memos and exhibits. • Utilizes (C.A.D. or Civil 3D) software to create plans for in-house projects for the department • Develop specifications for in-house projects • Provides back up for support staff, including providing information to the public on as-built locations of water/sewer taps, subdivision and site plans, legal descriptions, flood zones, and right of ways. • Communicates and coordinates regularly with appropriate people to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of interdepartmental operations and activities. • Performs inspections of as necessary for public works & utilities. • Works with the Geographical Information Systems division for verification and mapping of both infrastructure and accuracy of design plan data. • Assists to compile estimates for budgetary needs. • Performs drone work as requested for engineering needs, project updates, historical record keeping, or inspections. Position Competencies • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Office software packages; and English grammar and punctuation • Ability to prepare basic estimates for civil construction related work including unit costs and volumes. • Ability to document construction progress • Ability to coordinate in a timely manner contractor’s inquiry • Ability to verify work in place for pay application verification • Strong knowledge of computer assisted drafting (CAD) software • Understanding of geographical information systems • Ability to coordinate and/or perform testing of various construction materials such as soils, concrete, and aggregates in accordance with City and/or KDOT specifications • Good knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices • Basic land surveying skills • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor during stressful situations • Good knowledge of the organization and policies and procedures in the Public Works & Utilities Department in order to deal with variety of requests for assistance from the public as well as other departments. Requirements EDUCATION • Associates Degree and a minimum of five (5) years engineering experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work, and which meets licensing requirements. • Kansas Department of Transportation certified inspection and testing training required. • Possess or Obtain license to fly a drone. • American Concrete Institute – Concrete Field Testing Certification • Certified Stormwater Inspector • American Public Works Association Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector
