Maintenance Engineer (Technician)

POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the facility including major mechanical systems, fire & life-safety equipment, grounds, parking, lighting systems, plumbing, kitchen equipment, electrical, controls and any other systems and equipment comprising the physical structure and appurtenant infrastructure. Duties and responsibilities include being a role model of our core values of Fun, Friendly and Community. To ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, aesthetics and guest satisfaction are maintained; ensure compliance with all training/licensure requirements of staff; and able to assist with the general upkeep of the facilities. GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this class and are not all inclusive. 1. Be a motivated individual with resources to accomplish established objectives. 2. Execute and influence quality guest service and profitability. 3. Follow department standards, guidelines and objectives to maintain efficient operations of the Kansas Crossing Facility. 4. Assist in managing utility expenses through operational efficiencies. 5. Execute maintenance programs and maintain service records as required. 6. Troubleshoots and repairs malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, kitchen, and other equipment throughout the property. 7. Maintains the building exterior and curb appeal for snow removal, lawn care, painting, and other actions as directed. 8. Executes all routine maintenance and operation of physical structure of the casino, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and any other related equipment which contributes to the safe and effective operation of the facility. 9. Ensures work processes are OSHA and Hazcom compliant to include complying with all departmental MSDS sheets and procedures. 10. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, providing clear communication to the Chief Engineer on the details of work performed. 11. Answer radio or other communications regarding complaints/concerns and take appropriate action from all KCC departments. 12. Work efficiently and guarantee maximum productivity and guest satisfaction with a minimal supervision performing assigned task. 13. Attend all required meetings to obtain and disseminate pertinent information. 14. Evaluate condition of furniture, fixtures, décor, etc., which requires continuous visual inspection of public areas. Make repairs as needed or as directed by the Director of Security & Facilities or the Chief Engineer. 15. Maintain and Operate all equipment safely and at the recommendation of all Standard operating practices set forth by the equipment manufacturer or the Facility Standard Operating Procedures. 16. Conduct him/her in a gracious, kind and warm manner that creates a sense of fondness, as well as professional, courteous and responsive manner, which reflects positively on the company and its core values of Fun, Family and Community. 17. Participate on property Safety Committee as assigned. 18. Performs other duties as may be assigned by department and/or company management. WORKING CONDITIONS Must have ability to: • Accurately calculate figures and amounts and perform mathematical functions applicable to business needs. • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. • Interpret a variety of technical and mathematical formulas. • Interpret and follow through on a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. • Be flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, weekend hours and overtime as business needs dictate. • Be physically mobile with reasonable accommodations including ability to push, pull, carry and lift up to 50 lbs., and the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces JOB QUALIFICATIONS Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. A minimum 3 years in engineering, facility operations or a related area. Must have an occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training and/or on-the-job training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Excellent communication skills both written and oral. Ability to: read, analyze, interpret and comprehend technical procedures, government regulations, business periodicals, instructions, and correspondence/memos; write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals; effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers or staff, guests and the general public. Working knowledge of Excel and Word preferred. Attention to detail and accuracy. Maintain confidential information. COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES In addition to the other duties described herein, each and every Team Member has the following responsibilities related to compliance with laws and regulations: • Attend required training sessions offered by the casino. • Obtain required license(s). • Perform the duties described in compliance with local laws and regulations. • Take the necessary steps to ensure minors are not allowed to gamble or loiter in gambling areas, drink alcoholic beverages, or purchase tobacco. • Have knowledge of the ordinances, regulations, laws, policies, and procedures relating to the Team Member’s department. • Have knowledge of the Property’s programs to address problem gambling. • Consult with the appropriate individuals and maintain an effective system of written policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with the state regulations and Systems of Internal Controls. • Take the appropriate steps to investigate exceptions, fraud, and potential violations and report such instances to the appropriate levels of management. • Report any acts of wrongdoing on behalf of any Team Member that they have knowledge of.
