Field Electrical Technician

As a Field Electrical Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, testing, installing, troubleshooting, and repairing products both on-site at customer locations and within our facility. Reporting directly to the general manager, this position is based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • Experience: High school diploma or GED required. 2 to 4 years of experience, preferably in the Electro-Mechanical Field as a Field Service Technician, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. • Skills: Strong reading, writing, and communication skills. Good mathematical skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills preferred. • Customer Focus: Ability to work autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. Self-motivated with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting. Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time, including occasional extended stays. WHAT YOU'LL DO • Conduct a variety of electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical tests on systems, sub-assemblies, and parts to ensure functionality or diagnose issues. • Perform service tasks at various off-site locations as directed by management. • Read and interpret work orders, test manuals, specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedures and equipment to be used. • Prepare reports including daily findings, analysis, and solutions; complete travel, time sheets, and expense reports efficiently. • Troubleshoot issues using instrumentation, documentation, and knowledge to identify and correct problems. • Connect units to test equipment, such as motor generators, multimeters, or current injectors, and monitor performance. • Analyze test results to determine causes of failure and implement solutions, including replacing defective wiring and components. • Collaborate with engineering technicians, production staff, and others to resolve testing issues. • Assist with Quality Management System (QMS) procedures. • Travel to customer sites for startups, troubleshooting, or training on switchgear operations and equipment.
