Electrical Engineer

About the role The Electrical Engineer is a key contributor in the design, development, testing, and launch of piers, lifts, and other R&D projects as assigned. This role partners with cross-functional teams, including sales and production, to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions. The position requires strong technical expertise and creativity to enhance existing products and drive the development of new product lines. What you'll do • Apply expertise in electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic design principles to create and improve products. • Incorporate metals, plastics, and composite materials into structural designs, ensuring durability and performance. • Prototype builds, testing, and validation to confirm design reliability and compliance with standards. • Coordinate and conduct design reviews, providing technical oversight. • Partner with contract engineers to support new product design initiatives. • Manage Design Projects, including scheduling, documentation, engineering requests, and task execution. • Utilize ERP system NetSuite to streamline workflows, track project timelines, and optimize resources. • Drive successful product launches by collaborating with production, quality, and customer teams. • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed engineering drawings, CAD models, and technical documentation. • Apply GD&T principles and ensure proper tolerances for manufacturability. • Support manufacturing teams with tooling, jigs, and assembly processes to produce high-quality products efficiently. • Review engineering designs to ensure compliance with internal specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. • Actively engage with clients to understand technical needs and product requirements. • Provide expert technical support to customers during design, production, and post-launch phases. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. • 3+ years of directly related engineering experience. • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude • Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent platforms. ABOUT Aviation Electronics, Electrical, and Computer Systems Technicians (AV) work on some of the most advanced aircraft systems in the world. They maintain, diagnose, and repair complex electrical and electronic equipment, supporting critical functions such as radar, communications, navigation, and weapons. AV Sailors may also volunteer to serve as Naval Aircrewmen, operating radar and weapons systems during flight operations. Responsibilities Depending on your rating (AE or AT), you will: • Troubleshoot and repair advanced aircraft systems including digital computers, fiber optics, radar, infrared detection, and laser electronics. • Maintain aircraft electrical power generation and distribution systems. • Test and calibrate instruments and automatic flight control systems. • Perform micro-miniature circuit card repairs. • Install upgrades and modifications to aircraft electronic systems. • Operate diagnostic equipment and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics. Work Environment AV technicians serve in aviation environments around the world. Work may take place in hangars, aboard aircraft carriers, in electronics labs, or outdoors on flight lines. You’ll work closely with other aviation professionals and often take on responsibilities with minimal supervision. Training & Advancement • Class “A” Technical School – Pensacola, FL (18–26 weeks) Covers aviation fundamentals, electrical systems, electronics theory, and hands-on technical training. After completing school, Sailors are assigned to the AE or AT rating and may serve at naval air stations, aviation squadrons, or aboard carriers. Advanced technical schools are available for specific aircraft and mission systems.
