Job Summary Join our team as an Electric Meter Technician and play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable and accurate electric metering systems. In this position you will be responsible for installing, removing and testing electric metering and service control equipment within your assigned territory. You will contribute directly to the seamless functioning of electrical infrastructure. What You Will Do • Lays out and installs metering and service control equipment; checks large installations for proper connections and register multipliers; prepares connection diagrams and inspection reports. • Installs, removes and tests self-contained polyphase and any instrument transformer electromechanical or electronic metering installations including demand attachments; performs minor maintenance, as required; assists other meter personnel in making large installations, as directed. Works on automated meters to include installation, removal, maintenance and troubleshooting. • Works with company personnel and confers with electrical contractors as required on matters pertaining to service equipment and metering installations; ensures compliance with state, local, and company regulations. • Makes request and company order meter tests within assigned territory; checks customers' installations for grounds and other reasons for billing complaints; makes inspections and preliminary investigations for suspected diversion. • Changes out or removes meters and service control devices and prepares them for shipment to area test and maintenance shop. • Maintains a satisfactory operating stock of meters, metering equipment and service control devices for use within assigned territory. • Keeps meter records and makes reports as required. • Instructs and trains other employees as assigned in above work. • Performs all work according to company procedures, state regulations, and safety practices. • Performs other duties which are similar, related or incidental to this position. Education Requirements • High school diploma or GED Required Experience • Completion of the Electric Meter Technician apprenticeship and pass the position qualification examinations. • 2 years' experience in metering work as a qualified polyphase meter tester Other Requirements • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
