Apprentice - Mechanical Maintenance

Your Key Responsibilities • Rotate in departments related to the trade to complete 8000 on-the-job training hours and successfully complete related classroom instruction specific to the trade • Work closely with a Mechanic in conducting preventative and corrective maintenance of the building, machinery and equipment • Completes work-orders in a timely and efficient manner under the supervision of a journeyperson, attends classes as required for apprenticeship, and troubleshoots equipment • Requires a highly motivated individual who is willing to learn and apply acquired skills • Overtime as well as weekend and holiday work hours are required Your Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Mechanical and/or Electrical aptitude and knowledge • Hands-on learner • Enthusiastic about their career in skilled trades • Excellent communication ability (written & verbal) • Positive work ethic • Problem solving skills • Math • External applicants must be authorized to work in the US without employment VISA or other sponsorship Our Offering • The Schaeffler Apprenticeship Program is State certified through Apprentice Ohio and nationally recognized. The Schaeffler Apprenticeship Program is the largest registered manufacturing program in the State of Ohio. The University of Akron delivers the classroom instruction required for the program. Mechanical Operator

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and programming transfer press stamping operating machines, as well as overseeing the ramp up of these machines after setup. About the Role: • Set up and program transfer press stamping operating machines, ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in various test sequences. • Oversee the ramp up of transfer press stamping machines after setup, supporting operators in operating the machines. • Support maintenance in the repair, prevention of downtime, and inspection of transfer press stamping machines. • Follow documented procedures and processes, maintaining accurate records and tracking. • Check finished products/components for approval. • Ensure adherence to all safety and production rules, utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) properly at all times. Requirements: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Ability to use instruments for measuring and identifying defects. • Capacity to follow written and verbal instructions, writing clear communications in English. • Ability to operate complex machinery for inspection purposes. • Good visual acuity. • Capacity to lift medium-heavy objects if required. • Authorization to work in the US without employment visa or sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications: • Multiple years of experience operating complex machines in a manufacturing environment. • Experience working with power tools. • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
