This position performs complex measures and inspection of parts, raw material, and final product. Job Duties • Develop gauging set up and surface plate layout procedures necessary to accurately inspect parts using blueprints, mathematical formulas and precision measuring instruments • Devise procedures necessary to measure specified dimensions to the required accuracy • Lay out parts on a surface plate or position in gauging set up to verify dimensions using master gauges, index head, Johanson blocks, comparators, verniers, micrometers and indicators. • Test surface finish of machined parts using a profilometer. • Test hardness of metal parts using hardness tester. • Analyze defective parts to determine reasons for dimensional variations such as inaccurate gauging or machine capability. • Understand and apply specified sampling plan techniques • Assists manufacturing personnel in the selection of proper gauges for measuring parts to the required accuracy. • Maintains quality records as required by the Quality Manager. • Makes entries on record cards, writes inspection reports and communicates findings verbally to the appropriate manufacturing supervisor or set up person. • Performs gauge calibration and maintains calibration records. • Reports abnormal observations to the supervisor. • Assists manufacturing personnel in interpreting engineering drawings. • Communicates as required with the supervisor, QC manager, Material control and/or Manufacturing Engineering to effect disposition of parts and subsequent follow up. • Work with other employees and departments. • Responsible for quality of work produced. • Keep work area neat and clean. • Follow all safety and PPE regulations. • Work overtime as needed in accordance with contractual agreement. Requirements • High School Diploma or GED • Two year certificate from college or technical school or 1 - 3 years related experience • OR an equivalent combination of both education and experience Certificates, Licenses, and/or Registrations • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Technician (CQT) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools or measuring equipment for precision work. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. • Ability to compute rate, ration and percent to draw and interpret bar graphs. • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical interference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. An Industrial Applications Engineer position in the Norwalk, OH area is available with Storm Search. This individual will serve as the technical authority, playing a key role in evaluating sales opportunities, providing internal technical guidance, and supporting product development from concept to completion.
