Mechanical Engineer II

Responsible for providing mechanical engineering direction and technical oversight required to produce mechanical, piping system, and equipment drawings and deliverables on a variety of projects for natural gas, hydrocarbon, and industrial facilities. Primary responsibilities include development of Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Piping Orthographic, Isometric, and Bill of Material drawings with assistance from other mechanical engineers, mechanical designers, and drafters. This position must demonstrate the project management, leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making skills and experience required to independently lead and manage a small-scale project where technical, financial, schedule, and stakeholder components present an average level of complexity. Responsibilities • Manage the overall project scope of work, budget and schedule • Coordinate and exchange technical information with other project engineering disciplines • Lead and drive internal project team meetings to discuss project details, upcoming schedule milestones, scope changes, and communicating work priorities • Participate in and lead design review meetings and conference calls with customers, subcontractors, and vendors • Prepare weekly progress reports that identify completed work and upcoming planned work in accordance with the project schedule • Coordinate with mechanical discipline designers and drafters for the development of Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, Piping Orthographic, Isometric, and Bill of Material Drawings, and Facility Plot Plans/Site Layouts • Perform quality mechanical drawing checks to confirm safe, compliant, clear, complete, accurate, constructible, and cost-effective design criteria in accordance with BCE’s Drawing Check Process • Perform cross-discipline drawing reviews to confirm design consistency at all Mechanical, Civil, and Electrical design interfaces • Perform various mechanical calculations to validate and document mechanical/piping design and material/equipment specification • Utilize customer standards, specifications, and mechanical calculations to develop engineered and commodity bills of material • Identify Long-Lead Equipment, prepare and review equipment specifications, and drive the material procurement process throughout the design, including quote requisitions, technical and commercial bid evaluations, and preparation of purchase orders • Review equipment vendor drawings to confirm proper design integration and consistency with material purchase documentation Qualifications • 2+ Years with E.I. Certification • 4+ Years without E.I. Certification • Meets or exceeds all Mechanical Engineer I requirements and continues to improve individual skills • Working knowledge of ANSI pipe schedules, flange pressure and temperature ratings, pipe, fitting and flange materials and governing API, ASTM, ASME, and MSS material specifications • Basic understanding of industry codes and standards, including (but not limited to) DOT Part 192, ASME B31.3, ASME B31.8 • Basic knowledge of common industry mechanical equipment manufacturers (compression equipment, buildings, meters, heaters, valves, regulators, instrumentation, etc) and their application • Basic understanding of general construction practices and sequencing • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Field Engineer

Overview: This position is a 100% travel position and jobsites can range from OH, WV, PA, NC, VA, NY, KY, MI (working a 10 and 4 schedule). Perform support functions to facilitate the safe, efficient, high quality completion of Bi-Con Services construction projects. This position requires broad knowledge of industry requirements and best practices. • Bi-Con Services employees working in safety-sensitive positions are drug and alcohol tested under the federal DOT regulations.Testing is conducted for pre-employment, on a random basis (according to the requirements of DOT), reasonable suspicion and post-accident (according to the requirements of DOT.) Under DOT regulations, marijuana, whether with a medical prescription or not, is considered an illegal substance.* The Field Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and field coordination for construction projects. This role involves tracking materials, maintaining project documentation, interpreting project drawings, and ensuring compliance with project specifications. The Field Engineer plays a key role in supporting site operations, working closely with the Jobsite Superintendent, Project Managers, and subcontractors to ensure the successful execution of construction activities. Responsibilities: Material & Equipment Coordination: • Track material delivery status and update the Bill of Materials (BOM) upon receipt. • Ensure materials received onsite align with BOM specifications. • Expedite resolutions for material delivery discrepancies to prevent project delays. Project Documentation & Compliance: • Develop and maintain an organized database of field documentation, including: • Redlines and weld maps • Field fabrication spool drawings • RFIs (Requests for Information) and internal submittals to the Project Manager • As-builts, material test reports (MTRs), and hydro test records • Change order tracking (materials, equipment, and personnel hours) • Ensure field documentation aligns with project contract requirements and company standards. Project Execution & Coordination: • Assist in project punch list development and tracking through timely walk-throughs with customers and inspectors. • Interpret and communicate construction drawings, specifications, and project scope to various personnel with differing experience levels. • Support coordination of site layout and surveying activities. • Provide technical assistance to field teams and ensure quality control measures are met. • Work closely with subcontractors to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities: • Track and record time entries for personnel and subcontractors. • Process and manage Field Purchase Orders (P.O.s). • Maintain and update daily work reports and project schedules. • Support the Superintendent with hydro test documentation and test record coordination. Qualifications: • Preferred: 2 or 4-year technical degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in construction, with an emphasis on field engineering, materials management, or project coordination. • Experience with project documentation, change order management, and technical compliance. • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal). • Ability to read and interpret civil, mechanical, and electrical drawings. • Highly organized, with experience managing both hard copy and electronic file databases. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). • Experience in construction, particularly welding fabrication and associated materials, is preferred. • Ability to work in a field-based environment, with frequent site visits required.
