Qualifications Required Skills • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical experience. • Experience in rolling stock operations and/or maintenance. • Familiarity with FRA/CFR regulations. • Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, including pneumatics. This position will be available at the Chemours Global Headquarters in Wilmington, DE and report directly to the Process Equipment and Rotating Machinery Technology Leader. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with a lead engineer on pressure vessel-related projects and provide independent mechanical engineering support across other areas, focusing on the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of plant assets. The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: • Working collaboratively, provide pressure vessel engineering • Work with the lead pressure vessel engineer to support the design, evaluation, and maintenance of pressure vessels and fixed equipment for Chemours’ global chemical business units. • Participate in equipment design, project engineering, fabrication activities, inspections, repairs, and alterations. • Assist with development and delivery of technical training programs focused on pressure vessels and fixed equipment. • Working independently, provide engineering support on a variety of equipment types • Consult, troubleshoot, project support and training development for mechanical systems such as agitated vessels, filter presses, centrifuges, and mixers/agitators. • Provide supplemental consulting services for process piping, valves, bolting, flange make-up, etc. • Establish competency for precision machine repair, including creating standards and identifying suitable machine shops. • Manage a high number of simultaneous projects and programs with varying complexity, priority, and timing. Proactively support efforts independent of supervision. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address business challenges and deliver effective solutions. • Train and mentor engineers and technical staff to build mechanical engineering competency across Chemours. • Approximately 20% domestic and international travel is required. The following is required for this role: • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution. • 7+ years of experience in the chemical process or related Industries. • Strong understanding of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, ASME Piping Codes, API Codes and Standards, and NBIC. • Experience with stress analysis (methods and criteria). Proficiency with engineering software used in pressure vessel design (e.g., COMPRESS, PVElite). • Experience with the design, optimization, and best practices for bolted flange joints, including leak tightness criteria. • Demonstrated experience in specification, design, and application of mechanical components across a variety of chemical processes including filter presses, centrifuges, and mixers/agitators. • Able to provide support at all levels of the project process, from developing / reviewing basic data and specifications to equipment checkout and commissioning of process equipment worldwide. The following is preferred for this role: • Knowledge of non-metallic equipment calculation, design, and fabrication in accordance with ASME Section X and ASME RTP-1. • Proficiency with engineering software used in stress analysis (e.g., Abacus, ANSYS). • Active involvement in technical societies.
