Position Summary: The Mechanical Designer creates and designs and technical drawings for mechanical devices and equipment. Works closely with engineers and other professionals to create and improve manufacturing systems or processes and develop drawings for a wide variety of h igh-speed manufacturing machines and equipment. This position will have Monday through Friday on-site presence at our Dover, DE location Accountabilities Applies general machine knowledge and engineering drawing practices in development of effective mechanical designs through 3D modeling, in drawing checking processes, and in drawing preparation for prototype or final manufacture Demonstrate CAD and design ability to upgrade, improve or repair the company’s existing equipment design based upon manufacturing feedback and data as well as guidance from engineers Manages Engineering Change Order process and obtains approvals based upon established work flows Utilizes established engineering principles in the design and evaluation of mechanical components Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned Required Skills and Experience 3+ years of experience creating technical drawings Software: Proficient in CAD and Solid Works (3D design) General understanding of high-speed machinery Understanding of proper dimensioning schemes, tolerances, and GD&T principles Self-directed – ability to work with little supervision Ability to handle small-scale projects (i.e. part resolution/redesign) Ability to perform machine layouts/area layouts Preferred Skills and Experience 3+ years of experience with high-speed production machines Working knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, TeamCenter, and MS Office Experience in Pro/Engineer Creo and PLM databases a plus General understanding of fasteners, bearings, clutches, and other mechanical concepts Ability to understand and revise Electrical Schematics Knowledge of Facilities drawings, knowledgeable in compressed air, piping, electrical Knowledge of building codes Results oriented individual unafraid of utilizing a hands-on approach when needed Experience in electrical design (i.e. ladder (PLC) diagrams, spider drawings) is also a plus Relevant technical certification, coursework, or degree Working Relationships Key relationships internally will include working with engineering, operations & maintenance groups. Work Environment No travel required The salary range for this position is $56,000 - $84,000. Actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. The Mechanical Specialist will support all manufacturing areas by repairing, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on all packaging-related equipment and systems at our Dover, DE manufacturing plant. JOB SUMMARY Maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair production equipment heavily focused on the mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic aspects. Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repair for production equipment. REQUIRED EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Education : High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Experience : Minimum of one year as Maintenance/Industrial/Production Mechanic or equivalent Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Require the use of shop mathematics together with the use of complicated drawings, specifications, charts, tables, various types of adjustable measuring instruments, and the training generally applicable in a particular or specialized occupation. Equivalent to 1 to 3 years applied training. Require the use of sound judgment to plan and perform usual and intermediate work where only general methods are available and the making of broad decisions involving considerable initiative and ingenuity. Ability to operate computer-controlled equipment. Must be familiar and able to use basic electrical hand tools and testing equipment to troubleshoot and perform simple repairs on electrical circuitry at 230v and under. Testing: Must prove satisfactory vs. validated standard of STM Mechanic Task Series and Basic Props Test.
