Senior Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Integrity / Piping & Vessels

Job Summary: Messer owns and operates a large portfolio of industrial gas plants, including ASU, CO2, H2, Helium plants, serving customers within a wide range of industries. The primary function of this role is providing mechanical engineering support to our operations, reliability, and project execution groups for piping, vessels, and other fixed equipment. This position provides direct engineering support for maintenance and repair efforts and subject matter expertise for mechanical integrity, regulatory compliance, strategy ownership, and preventive maintenance program content involving fixed equipment. Principal Responsibilities: • Provide engineering support for all operational ASU, CO2, H2, H, and onsite plants ensuring they are safe and capable thru effectively managed mechanical integrity and preventive maintenance programs. • Provides Piping and Vessel engineering specification and design for plant replacement, modification, or repair activities. • Direct and/or lead the assessment of infrastructure equipment as part of the due diligence process associated with the takeover of plant from previous owners. • Ensure the mechanical integrity of pressure systems is maintained and equipment is fit for purpose thru proper specification, procurement, operation, and maintenance practices. • Owns, reviews, challenges, and updates the collection of standards and procedures relating to Mechanical Integrity RBI and other condition assessment processes to minimize cost while ensuring equipment is always safe to operate, fit for purpose and remains in compliance with regulatory requirements or best practices. • Manage compliance of regulatory inspection programs for pressure vessels. • Subject Matter Expert of National Board, ASME and API code interpretations as they relate to equipment and systems as well as understanding state by state requirements under these codes. • Monitors and Manages piping and vessel inspections. Conducts both in house inspections and thru 3rd party contractors. Develops scope of work and partners with local plant managers and procurement on contractor evaluation and selection. • Approves all piping and vessel inspection and repair procedures, including welding procedures and techniques. • Work closely with Procurement on evaluating 3rd party services, preparation of work scopes, specifications, KPI’s and surveillance. Required Education/Experience: • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required. • Minimum 10 years of experience in operational and engineering environment to include experience of engineering projects, equipment specification, operation, maintenance, inspection and testing of piping and vessels. Qualifications: • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to follow through to completion on projects and solutions. • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects and achieve results. • Proven understanding of regulatory and industry standards and codes • Working knowledge of governing codes: ASME B31.3, API, NBIC Part 1-4, CGA Documents, API welding codes. • Working knowledge of other technical specifications which are regarded by the ruling authorities as mandatory (e.g. codes for welding, basic materials of construction, seismic protection). Product Engineer

A Snapshot of Your Day The Product Engineer implements Siemens-Energy technology to upgrade oOEM turbo-compressors, meeting client requirements for capacity, efficiency, and reliability. The selected candidate collaborates with global experts for end-to-end solution development. Work with a project team environment to develop solutions from initial concept engineering through to installation and commissioning. Collaboration with SE’s technology experts, factories, service centers and field service personnel worldwide. Our fleet includes compressors from different brands, designs, and ages. How You’ll Make an Impact: • Coordinate project progress, develop project designs, make technical decisions, communicate with project managers and other stakeholders. • Provide support for pre-sale activities by reviewing proposed solutions for efficiency, logistics, and risk mitigation to improve selling efforts. • Develop designs by applying engineering standards, using software tools, hold design reviews and consulting experts when needed. • Apply engineering knowledge in thermodynamics, aero design, structural analysis, rotor dynamics, and machine design. • Conduct Field Work in a dynamic environment in early project and commissioning phases. What You Bring: • Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Engineering, or a related field (Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Chemical or Equivalent experience). • Possess 8+ years of extensive experience in analytical engineering (aerodynamic and mechanical), machinery design, impeller fabrication, rotor construction, seals, bearings, couplings, assembly, testing, servicing, and repair of API-617 core compressors. Demonstrated a comprehensive understanding of systems that support compressor operations, including dry and oil film seals, lubrication oil, suction throttle, recycle-loop, and surge control. • Proficient in reverse engineering with dimensional inspection techniques, including the use of micrometers and laser scanners, for OEM parts and assemblies. • Leadership proficiencies encompass persistent problem-solving, strategic vision, analytical and sequential thinking, efficient performance under pressure, and a personable demeanor. • Excel skills at Intermediate to Advanced level; LM, Python, Fortran, Power BI, Power Automate, SQL is strongly preferred. • Travel domestically and internationally, up to 25% annually; Must have current US passport (or ability to obtain) and valid driver's license.
