Manager I, Project Engineering, Mechanical

Based in West Hartford, CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 500 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets. Position We are currently seeking a Manager, Mechanical Project Engineering to join our Project Engineering Group to support Hydromechanical and/or Thermal Systems new product design and development. This person will demonstrate the ability to execute successful product development programs for new or modified product on schedule and within budget from concept design through production transition. Responsibilities Manage the team of Project Engineers (PEs) that support our Mechanical products, including the coordination of fuel pumps, fuel metering units, actuators, thermal systems components and other mechanical system products. Other management responsibilities to be reviewed during the interviewing process. Guide the PEs within the manager’s team to: Effectively lead the integrated product teams in the development of new products Communicate with the customer on technical and project related topics Prepare component specifications, test plans, and test reports Provide oversight of mechanical test activities (setup and testing) Organize team level RCCA activities to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical products. Review/monitor schedule and budget commitments relative to assigned projects and communicate risks to management. Support Operations in ensuring that engineered product meets financial objectives through Design to Cost. Ensure new product development procedures are adhered to and that recommendations for improvement incorporated into revised procedures. Identify process and product improvements and implement changes Qualifications BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required; PMP certification, MS or MBA degree a plus. 15+ years of relevant experience in working in Fuel Controls, Engine Controls, Hydraulic Actuation Systems, Aerospace Thermal Systems or similar mechanical products. Capable of multi-tasking, executing cross-functional activities, and driving projects to successfully meeting key milestones Ability to read and understand technical drawings. Strong technical writing skills Experience working in and leading product development teams, creating project plans, performing risk assessments and working resource plans necessary for successful program execution.
