Mechanical Design Engineer

Hiring for a Mechanical Design Engineer in West Hartford! Job Description The Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for leading the creation and improvement of products that involve the engineering department. This includes the design, development, and analysis of aircraft fuel system components. Responsibilities • Review customer requirements to provide mechanical solutions for thermal and engine system elements such as vapor cycle compressors, thermal expansion valves, heat exchangers, fuel pumps & metering units, actuation systems, and accessories. • Create internal system requirements specifications from customer requirements, including listings of assumptions for further customer discussions. • Generate and perform relevant mechanical design and analyses concerning fuel pumping systems, vapor cooling systems, and/or actuation systems. • Package complex mechanical airborne systems and components. • Lead engineering trade studies and analyses. • Perform detailed design analyses and present results to customers in support of design reviews. • Provide design solutions to resolve mechanical issues. Essential Skills • Experience in design, mechanical engineering, and mechanical design. • New product development expertise. • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) with 5–10 years of related experience preferred or equivalent 15+ years of aerospace-specific design experience. • Interest in turbine engine fuel/oil pump design, environmental control system packaging, component design, and analysis. • Knowledge of high-speed rotating systems/assemblies. • System design skills, including development technology, trade studies, and requirements/specification development. • Ability to read, understand, and generate complex mechanical detail parts and assembly drawings. • Understanding of hydraulic schematics. • Strong technical communication skills (written and verbal). • Ability and willingness to travel as required. • Proficient in 3D solid modeling, preferably UG NX or Catia. • Proficient in understanding and applying GD&T requirements to new designs. • Ability to perform complex assembly tolerance studies. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Familiarity with casting and machining principles, including additive manufacturing. Position Triumph Engine Control Systems’ Electronics Engineering department is looking to fill a position for a FPGA/PLD Electronics Design Engineer in our West Hartford, CT location. Our Design Engineers develop custom solutions for a variety of Electronic Engine Control applications used to perform actuator controls, motor controls, mechanical sensor interfacing, fuel regulation, digital communication, programmable logic design, and input power conditioning, to name a few. The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent technical, analytical and problem solving skills, be comfortable communicating with internal and external customers, must be self-motivated and possess good interpersonal/team skills. Experience with designing Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC), Programmable Logic Devices (PLD), Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) and other Complex Electronic Hardware (CEH) is required. Knowledge of RTCA DO-254 Standard for Airborne Electronic Systems is recommended. The candidate must be able to use various CAD tools (e.g. Mentor Graphics-DxDesigner, PADs 9.X thru VX, Hyperlinx, etc.), generate various documents related to requirements, design, validation, plans, procedures… be able to author technical reports, and work with lab equipment including meters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, programmers, and data acquisition systems. The candidate will interact with various engineers across multiple disciplines within Triumph, including Electrical, Systems, Software, Mechanical & Packaging, Project and Program Management… as well as external compliance officers including Designated Engineering Representatives (DERs) or Organizational Delegation Authorities (ODAs). Responsibilities The FPGA/PLD Electronics Design Engineer shall execute various technical aspects of a given program while ensuring that cost and schedule objectives are being met. Mechanical Engineer - Product Validation and Research

Position Overview We are seeking a multifaceted Mechanical Engineer with expertise in testing, automation, and instrumentation. In this role, you will lead a verification and validation testing team of two direct reports, oversee the integration and calibration of sensors and instruments, and design and execute reliability and durability tests on small arms. You will also be responsible for drafting, standardizing, and maintaining foundational test procedures that will guide future test technicians and engineers. Additionally, you will review product requirements documents and develop test plans to confirm each product meets the established criteria. When testing volume is low, you will support larger design projects or address design issues by providing insight and recommendations and occasionally contribute to product designs.
