Mechanical Technician

Express Employment Professionals in Danbury is currently seeking Mechanical Technicians for a client located right here in Danbury! You will provide shop fabrication & shipping/receiving support for a small business operating within the thermal processing industry, using a variety of metallic and ceramic based materials, and metal working equipment, to produce high temperature application heating components, and furnace systems. Auto mechanic, welding, or fabrication experience is preferred but not required. Essential Functions: • Operate metal working equipment (lathes, mills, drills) & power tools • Utilize quality measuring tools, i.e. calipers, micrometers, tape measures etc. • Perform shipping/receiving functions including product packaging, skidding, material handling and tendering shipping paperwork. • Operate fork truck and provide material handling support that involves slings and lifting apparatuses • Keep equipment and work areas clean and orderly and perform routine, low-level preventative and corrective maintenance task on shop equipment and tools • Ability to perform simple shop math: subtraction, addition, multiplication, conversions, division, geometry and algebra. Working Conditions/Physical Demands: • Perform physical labor up to a maximum of 90% of annual labor hours • Remain on feet and move w/in Shop for a period of eight (8) hours with designated breaks • Able to lift 50 lbs., climb a ladder to a height of 15+ feet above the ground and work in a safety harness. • Ability to work comfortably and safely around power producing equipment & refractory • Must be physically fit to qualify for and able to wear a respirator. • Ability to work safely and professionally at customer facilities & work in confined spaces with elevated temperatures Company DescriptionWe are one of the top staffing companies in the U.S. and Canada. 900+ franchises nationwide in the US & Canada. Mechanical Manufacturing Technician II

Position Overview (Summary/Objective): As part of our Danbury Operations team, the Manufacturing Technician II will have an exciting opportunity to utilize their mechanical aptitude and assembly skills within a manufacturing production facility. Working with high precision glass, mechanical and electrical products, this individual will have the opportunity to work hands-on within a growing and evolving environment. Responsibilities: • Mechanical and assembly processes by reading blueprints and working hands-on from assembly drawings. • Following standard work instructions to assemble components for assigned programs including optical or electro-optical components as well as circuit card assemblies. • Work with micrometers, calipers, multi meters, and other measuring tools. • Cross-training within the department to learn other skills and work processes. • Assisting in maintaining productivity and efficiency, while meeting scheduled delivery dates and consistently upholding compliance. • Reading and understanding Material Safety Data Sheets in handling hazardous chemicals. • Multitasking on various production assemblies and repairs. • Fabricate hardware, equipment, tools or prototypes from drawing or sketches. • Identify and effectively troubleshoot minor process, material, designs, or equipment. • Precision Cleaning, Branson Ultrasonic Cleaner, Laser Particle Counter. Basic Qualifications: • High school or equivalent • 1-3 years of mechanical and/or machinist related experience. • Must be mechanically inclined with a curiosity and aptitude to learn. • Computer proficiency with the willingness to learn new technologies. • Ability to speak up as appropriate and escalate issues as required. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to maintain a high degree of flexibility and assist others as needed. • Solid written and verbal communication skills. • Experience in bonding optics is a plus.
