Quality Engineer

In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the development and maintenance of quality control and assurance management systems to assure that products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications and achieve superior quality levels. Your day-to-day involvement in reducing variability in manufacturing quality and resolving internal nonconformances will positively affect Mativ’s future growth. This role is in our Protective Solutions site in Greenfield, MA and reports to the Quality Manager. Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Responsible for investigating and determining root cause for customer and internal nonconformances and the development and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions working closely with production team members. Prepare product certification documentation required to demonstrate compliance to specified requirements and assist in the derogation process to achieve product waivers where appropriate. Support vendor qualification, auditing, onboarding, and performance management. Conduct process capability analysis and prepare statistical process control charts for use on the production floor as well as in the development and evaluation of current and/or new specifications, aligned with customer needs and the internal capabilities. Execute the metrology program for quality test equipment including internal and external calibration and verification activities are completed and maintained as current throughout the manufacturing process. Assist with management of the quality hold area and complete appropriate documentation to ensure the control of nonconforming product. Transfer material to and from quality hold in inventory control system as approved by Quality Manager. Supervise quality technicians and team members’ assigned responsibility for incoming raw material testing and audit the receiving of raw materials. Conduct essential communication to and training of employees on quality management requirements; operation of test equipment and performance of test methods. Act as a catalyst for continuous quality improvement throughout the operations. Driving continuous improvement projects to improve process capability, increase quality and reduce waste. Troubleshoot quality issues on the production floor using analytical approach and data analysis to draw conclusion and work with Production team towards a successful resolution. Support the internal audit program as an auditor. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications:Required Education & Skillsets: Bachelor's degree in a technical field + 5 years quality and/or supervisory related experience and/or training required. Experience with formal Quality Management & ISO Certification Systems. Strong attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.). Experience with computer-based quality data information systems (e.g. Minitab, ERP systems, etc.). Demonstrated capability to handle multiple projects and priorities. Excellent written and oral communications. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills using formal process tools and techniques (e.g. PDCA, DMAIC, etc.). Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interface with all levels in the organization Preferred Lean Six Sigma or Practical Process Improvement training and certification. Project Engineer

The Project Engineer develops, designs, and implements capital or expense equipment projects through new equipment design and installation or modification of existing equipment. Provides technical analysis and resolution of engineering problems. The Project Engineer will provide engineering support to the engineering staff and manufacturing operations relative to new equipment, processes, equipment upgrades and/or improvements, and other engineering needs as they arise. The Project Engineer provides guidance to production supervison, and operating personnel pertaining to equipment support, troubleshooting, and optimiziation. Responsibilities: Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and Mativ policies and procedures. Identifies major equipment needs, makes recommendations and prepares suitable appropriation requests, including financial justifications when applicable. Obtains quotes, estimates or bids for purchased equipment, fabricated and purchased components, technical services, construction, installation and other purchased products or services needed in the execution of an assigned project through a RFQ process. Project management within time and budget guidelines including communication of project status, costs, deadlines, specifications, procurement, installation, troubleshooting, commissioning, training and documentation. Generate designs and drawings in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for the layout, components, tooling mechanical, facility layout, electrical, fluid power, piping and additional disciplines required on the project. Serve as engineering support and a technical resource to the location teams to ensure smooth, efficient machine operation. Recommends modification or replacement of equipment to ensure greater continuity of operation for maximum economy of operations with lower unit cost of maintenance activity. Stays informed concerning new research and design methodology and investigates their potential applications. Designs and implements cost-effective equipment modifications to improve safety, reliability and efficiency. Travel up to 25% Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Required Education & Skillsets: Bachelor’s degree in an applicable engineering field, preferably mechanical engineering plus 5+ years of engineering and project management experience in a manufacturing environment or a combination of education and experience. Experience in a resin web converting operation is preferred.
