We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with expertise in HVAC and plumbing systems. As a key member of our Infrastructure and Services Group, your contributions will include: • Designing and developing HVAC and plumbing systems, focusing on master planning, feasibility studies, and mechanical systems like co-generation while integrating sustainability principles and compliance with client requirements. • Reviewing draft designs for adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and ensuring compliance with company policies. • Conducting site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications and adjust design requirements as necessary. • Enhancing the firm's Technical Knowledge Management through the development of white papers and technical design documentation, and contributing to technical journals. • Participating in industry conferences and symposia to boost the firm’s visibility, while collaborating with sales teams to maximize outreach. • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and supervising project work when necessary. • Undertaking additional responsibilities as required. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in jurisdictions where EIT is unavailable (must be completed within 18 months of hire, promotion, or transfer). • 5 years of relevant experience. • Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • Domestic and/or international travel may be necessary, depending on specific responsibilities and project demands. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working on large, complex projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. • Prior experience utilizing Autodesk Revit for creating detailed mechanical drawings. • Knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and sustainable design practices. • Experience in high-performance building design targeting energy, water, and carbon reduction. Overview We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineering Consultant to join our team. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise and leadership skills to support projects for property owners, developers, architects, and construction partners. You will play a key role in the firm’s success by providing both technical and managerial guidance, with hands-on involvement in the design, installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of mechanical systems for heating, cooling, ventilation, and controls. The salary range for this position is $175,000–$210,000, commensurate with education, experience, location, and professional certifications/licensure. Essential Job Functions • Contribute to the development and preparation of conceptual designs and layouts. • Coordinate and deliver schematic design, design development, and construction documents. • Prepare detailed drawings and specifications in compliance with building codes and industry standards. • Deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design-bid-build, design-assist, and design-build. • Conduct or assist with on-site condition surveys. • Apply innovative technologies and methodologies to advance building design. • Continuously improve technical quality by staying informed on emerging technologies, building code updates, and industry advancements. • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to produce integrated project documents and deliver cohesive design solutions. • Maintain strong client relationships to ensure successful project delivery and foster repeat business. • Develop and cultivate new relationships with architects, developers, and building owners/operators. • Demonstrate a proactive, self-starting work ethic to sustain an effective and efficient work environment. Required Education And Certifications • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or a related field. • A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required. • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the design, assessment, and/or construction of the built environment, including preparation of construction documents and administration. • Commitment to conducting oneself with professionalism and business integrity. • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Teams, Excel) and strong general computer literacy.
