Responsibilities • Review, interpret, and document customer specifications, sales agreements, test data, and other project-related information prior to the 'kick-off' meeting with the project team. • Attend 'progress' meetings, including 'kick-off' meetings with manufacturing personnel prior to the start of assembly and 'post-job review' meetings with the project team after commissioning of the equipment. • Ensure the flow of information on projects by delegating tasks and ensuring their completion. • Manage the gathering of missing information from customers, vendors, etc., and document responses. • Provide all aspects of equipment design, including necessary calculations, advance orders of long lead components, customer approval drawings, and shop detail drawings for manufacturing using sound practical engineering principles and safety standards. Ensure project deadlines, estimated engineering hours, and equipment cost constraints are met. Review complex tasks with upper-level engineers. • Provide direction to and assist in the training of lower-level engineering hires. Assign design tasks and oversee lower-level engineers. • Develop working relationships with the manufacturing department to address and resolve issues, producing the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost. • Serve as a technical resource for Sales, Applications, Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and Field Service, assisting in addressing and resolving questions and problems. Essential Skills • Strong 3D modeling skills - Solidworks is a must • Project engineering experience with an emphasis on custom designs • Experience in 3D modeling of large assemblies • Designs involving sheet metal fabrications and structural steel weldments, integrating various purchased components • Strong problem-solving skills • Ability to handle multiple projects • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities • Desire and ability to collaborate on designs and problem-solving Additional Skills & Qualifications • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering is preferred • Open to other or no degree with considerable experience and skills that directly apply to our industry • 5-10 years of experience in a mechanical engineering position desired • Will consider candidates with substantially more experience as well Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
