Responsibilities The Mechanical Service Technician will be the face of Valmet while traveling to customer facilities and providing a high level of professionalism while servicing equipment. You will be asked to travel 60% and be responsible to work with customers and Project Coordinators on servicing existing equipment, new equipment installs, upgrades, and audits. In this role you will require close collaboration with cross functional teams including Sales, Spares, Tips & Mods, Engineering along with other Mechanical and Electrical Technicians at various customer locations. You will be responsible to travel, work with customers and colleagues in problem solving, assembling, and maintaining converting equipment. You need the ability to read pneumatic and hydraulic schematics to resolve issues along with being a quick learner in a fast-paced environment. Expectations Previous experience is preferred, including operations, maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, and repairs or Two (2) year technical associate degree (Mechanical, or Mechatronics) or the equivalent combination of technical school training, military, or industrial experience required. Will need to be team oriented but also able to work individually and solve problems in a high stress and fast paced environment. Must be a problem solver and have a driven personality to learn new things. Ability to read drawings, schematics, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The electro-mechanical technician will also perform machine wiring and assist in machine troubleshooting and start-up as specified per electrical schematics, machine drawings and engineering. Daily activities will involve: - Building and wiring electrical control panels using electrical schematics. - Performing machine wiring per machine drawings and/or electrical schematics. This will include mounting and aligning sensors, and on machine cable routing. - Performing mechanical work such as attaching enclosures to a machine, punching holes to cabinets, drilling and tapping holes in machine conveyors. - Mounting of conduits, running wire-way and any other race way type. - Assisting electrical engineers with machine electrical systems pre-functional testing, troubleshooting and start-ups. - Submitting weekly time-sheet with accurate documentation of work completed. - Maintaining housekeeping and organization of workplace. - Following all workplace safety standards. - Following company policies and procedures. - Performing all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned. - Working in other areas of the shop as needed in response to production demands. Basic Requirements: - High School Diploma or GED required. - Ability to read, understand, and troubleshoot electrical schematics. - Ability to read and understand Bills of Materials. - Understanding for AC/DC controls circuits as well as 3 PH motor control. - 3+ years of hands-on experience in automated industrial control panel building and equipment wiring. - 3+ years of experience with power and hand tools (e.g. wire cutters, crimpers, soldering irons, etc.), fabrication machinery (e.g. drill press, grinder, etc.), pneumatic tools, and using a multi-meter. - 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or general labor industry. - Familiarity with electrical control system components (e.g. breakers, disconnect switches, relays, timers, safety circuits, etc.). - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - General math skills. - Ability to to follow verbal and written work instructions and blueprints. - Ability to manage multiple projects with flexibility of adapting to changing priorities. - Ability to work with minimal supervision. - Must be a team player. - Must be customer service oriented. - Have basic hand tools for all activities described above.
