Mechanical Engineering Specialist - Data Centers, Mission Critical

STV is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Specialist - Mission Critical, Data Centers to join the Construction Management team in Racine/Mt. Pleasant, WI. About the Role In this role, you will play an integral part in the planning, coordination, and execution of mechanical engineering tasks for high-tech Mission Critical Construction facilities. These include advanced cooling systems, HVAC configurations, energy systems, and mechanical integration for critical environments. You will help ensure the reliability, efficiency, and compliance of major infrastructure supporting digital technology, financial institutions, cloud storage, and more. Key Responsibilities • Support mechanical systems design, review, and coordination in high-demand mission critical environments, including HVAC, chilled water systems, CRAC units, and mechanical utility distribution. • Assist with construction oversight, ensuring contractor compliance with design intent, quality standards, and applicable codes (ASHRAE, IBC, IMC, etc.). • Contribute to equipment submittal reviews, RFI responses, and documentation management. • Attend regular site walks and coordination meetings with contractors, clients, and internal engineering teams. • Utilize engineering judgment to support design evaluations, value engineering opportunities, and problem-solving efforts. • Interpret and assist in the preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and schedules in support of ongoing work. • Monitor mechanical construction progress and participate in commissioning, systems turnover, and closeout processes. • Coordinate with cross-discipline partners including electrical, structural, and civil engineers as well as IT and commissioning professionals. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. • 1-5 years of experience supporting or designing mechanical systems in large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission critical environments. • Exposure to data centers, cleanrooms, healthcare, laboratories, or other technically complex facilities is highly desirable. • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and specifications. • Familiar with design and construction codes such as ASHRAE, NFPA, IBC, and local building codes. • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills. • A collaborative, hands-on attitude and interest in learning on fast-paced, high-stakes construction projects. • EIT certification is a plus; pursuit of PE licensure encouraged. Work Environment Position is located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin. Travel may be required for customer and Twin Disc entity visits both domestically and abroad.
