Mechanical Engineer III

Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer will assist in the development of new engine components, system designs and test assets as well as the sustainment of existing models. This individual will primarily focus on engine development and validation including conceptualization, detailed engineering design, and analysis. Other duties may be assigned. • Ability to manage assigned projects to successful completion. • Design, develop, and integrate engine systems and components, starting with basic engineering analysis. • Select appropriate materials and processes considering performance, longevity, reliability, and cost. • Lead the requirement setting, approval verification and validation expectations for assigned systems, subsystems, and components. • Develop and create test standards and protocols; analyze test results, as assigned. • Proactively communicate with engineers, technicians, drafters, suppliers, and program managers to optimize engine design, reliability, and performance. • Design for lowest manufacturing cost consistent with reliability, performance requirements, and FAA certification standards. • Complete drawing preparation in accordance with ASME drafting standards. • Assist and provide input on continuous process improvement and implementation opportunities for new and existing processes. • Support production development, testing, including FAA certification, expectations as assigned. Qualifications Required: • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent • 5+ years of appropriate engine design experience especially with rotating assemblies, gear trains, pumps and/or supercharger/turbocharger machinery. • Excellent organizational skills. • Ability to effectively communicate with engineering, management, and lab technicians. • 3D CAD Experience (SolidWorks, PTC- CREO, NX, etc.) Preferred: • Member of SAE or other appropriate organization. • Advanced Engineering degree or certification. • Research & Development Experience. • Passion for engines, high tech technology, innovation, and aviation. • Knowledge of FAA certification regulations. Working Conditions This position is a professional engineering position, yet combined with occasional “hands-on”, assisting technicians working through challenges on the engine(s).

Position has responsibilities for conducting building operations, custodial cleanliness, minor maintenance and activity support. Provides leadership over the district’s day-to-day operations in their assigned building by maintaining a clean, sanitary, orderly and safe workplace. Engineers perform all aspects of Preventative maintenance, light mechanical and cleaning operations completing proper forms and schedules, operation of equipment in a safe manner. Custodians maintain an assigned cleaning area and perform to standards of care established by the Office of Operations. Essential Functions: • Prioritize work orders; assigns duties and work orders; outlines work methods; directs work in process; trains staff; reviews completed work; monitors absences; conducts employee evaluations and provides ongoing formative feedback; takes or recommends disciplinary action as needed. • Collaborates with supervisors to ensure work performed does not interrupt instruction or school/ office operations. Attends to emergencies when necessary following established protocols. • Orders necessary supplies following district procurement procedures and maintaining an accurate up-to-date inventory records. Instructs staff on proper procedures for storing, utilizing and documenting inventory. Three (3) years’ of increasingly responsible custodial experience preferred Licenses and Certifications: • 2nd class engineer’s license from the American Society of Power Engineers. • Blood Borne Pathogen and other RUSD required safety training (lead, asbestos, ALICE, etc.) within 12 months of employment. • RUSD supervisory certification within 12 months of employment. Candidates must have excellent attendance and have no pending disciplinary action on them. If all qualifications are not met, the school district may assist the most qualified applicant with developing a plan for achieving them. Work Environment: Busy work environment with multiple priorities and frequent interruptions. Work includes a commitment to irregular working hours, when needed. Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person or on the telephone; seeing to read a variety of documents; sitting for extended periods of time; walking; dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment; intermittent bending, stooping or reaching overhead to retrieve or store materials; driving a vehicle to conduct business activities.
