Mechanical Engineer / Designer

Alliance Manufacturing, Inc., a leading provider of innovative solutions for industrial parts cleaning applications, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Designer! POSITION SUMMARY Prepares technical drawings by use of Solidworks, Computer Aided Drafting (CAD), and/or other method(s). Oversees the execution of assigned engineering project activities from pre-order to after shipment customer service. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepares accurate engineering drawings on a timely basis using Solidworks, AutoCAD, or other method(s). Assist in the coordination of manufacturing sub-contractor(s). Evaluate and select purchased components for proper application, cost effectiveness, lead time, etc. Inspect purchased components for accuracy. Prepare parts descriptions for purchase and identification purposes. Prepare equipment manuals and related customer information/documentation. Assign drawing and part numbers as needed. Perform project review to check accuracy of components charged to project. Perform engineering calculations in a neat and orderly fashion and file document in the appropriate files. Perform part test cleaning/evaluations as requested. Perform equipment final inspection prior to shipment - All Alliance equipment will be inspected for quality assurance, order completeness, security of components for shipping and proper labeling of items. Assist with equipment troubleshooting and field service as requested. Assist with customer run-offs - As a final step before shipment, customers are invited to inspect and run-off a sampling of product. These run-offs will typically be performed at Alliance’s facility or at the sub-contract, fabricator’s facility. Manage projects with assistance of Design Engineer/Project Engineer. Perform additional duties as requested and assigned. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Moderate to advanced skill/ability in Solidworks. Ability to oversee complete projects from design to run-off. Excellent mechanical aptitude. Ability to delegate work for timely completion of projects. Ability to perform multiple tasks accurately within acceptable and/or requested deadlines. Educational background and/or experience in mechanical design/engineering. Experience/knowledge related to industrial cleaning equipment. Mechanical Engineer

Description: Design custom machines consistent with established engineering specifications according to size, capacities, performance and other requirements. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Handle all aspects of design engineering work. • Create and modify drawings per redline changes via ECRs. • Occasionally communicate with customers in the form of telephone calls, emails, meetings and presentations to understand and define their needs. • Understand and respond to customer requests, both verbal and written. • Design product to meet all requirements. • Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. • Read and interpret customer specifications, technical drawings, sales drawings, and 3D machine models. • Research, design and evaluate mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet specified requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles. • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions or deficiencies. • Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility, design, operation, or performance of equipment, components, or systems. • Investigate equipment failures and improper operation and make recommendations to resolve the issues. • Research and develop models of alternate designs and processing methods to assess feasibility, operating condition effects, possible new applications, and necessity of modification. • Evaluate and select components and parts for the machines. • Evaluate and approve design changes, specifications and drawing releases. • Manage several projects at one time. • Assist drafters in developing the detail drawings of products. • Assist manufacturing, quality and planning as required. • Develop working relationships with fabrication, machine builders, and Production Manager, and develop better cooperation for working together toward producing the highest quality products at the lowest possible cost. • Act as technical resource for product field support of customers, service personnel and field sales, assisting in addressing and resolving questions and problems. • Participate on cross-functional teams to address and resolve manufacturing, design, and quality problems, and ensure the continuous, on-going improvement of processes and methods. • Suggest ideas for new products. • Stay current in new developments in the industry. • Keep informed of new parts or methods to improve products or product designs. • Oversee installation, operation, inspections, testing, maintenance and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications • Handle all changes and problems related to product assigned. • Follow all housekeeping procedures. • Comply with all quality and safety regulations. Position Overview: As a Design Engineer on the Cowling Engineering team at Mercury Marine you will be responsible for the design, development, and validation of cowling and latching systems and related components on marine outboard engines. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field • 2+ year of experience in product development • Understanding of a variety of manufacturing processes (Sheet metal forming, Aluminum casting, injection molded plastic, molded or extruded rubber) Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with injection molded plastic processes and latch and hinge systems • Experience with large class A panel design • Experience with Seal design and development • Knowledge of six sigma tools and application and root cause analysis • Experience with use of the FMEA process • Understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing • Ability to utilize Creo for 3D model evaluation or component analysis • Experience within Teamcenter engineering or similar PLM software/Change Release Process The anticipated pay range for this position is $72,000 - $115,300 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job- related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role.
