About the role The Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating precise 3D designs and drawings using CAD software, ensuring all specifications for size, capacity, performance, and quality requirements are met. This role supports sales with technical inquiries, assists shop and installation personnel with troubleshooting, and collaborates with teams to resolve quality issues. The Mechanical Designer also reviews and approves drawings for manufacturing release, manages Bills of Materials (BOM) within the ERP system, and ensures proper revision control. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with manufacturing processes, and effective communication skills to support efficient product development and production operations. What you'll do • Develop and maintain accurate product cost estimates. • Provide technical design support to the sales team, addressing inquiries and offering solutions. • Collaborate with shop and installation personnel to troubleshoot and resolve design or assembly issues. • Identify and implement corrective actions to address quality concerns. • Review and approve technical drawings for release to manufacturing, ensuring accuracy and completeness. • Maintain strict revision control of all design documents and updates. • Prepare and export finalized drawings to the appropriate personnel or production equipment. • Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOM) within the ERP system to ensure accuracy and traceability. • Perform other duties as needed. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering preferred. • 1–3 years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and practical experience in a related field. • Proficiency in 3D CAD software; experience with SolidWorks is highly desirable. • Experience working with engineering drawings, manufacturing processes, or production documentation is preferred. • Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, milling, and welding. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly. • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Mechanical Engineering Technician IV

The Engineering Technician IV is responsible for providing support to the Engineering Lab regarding test equipment, test setup, facility needs, equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and Data Acquisition with limited supervision. This role will facilitate continuous improvement activities to reduce the potential for product defects, as well as partner with Engineering and other lab functions to determine specific test equipment and resource needs to support test execution. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively, document work, create procedures, design, build and maintain test fixtures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Support test equipment and setup for product testing per test procedures. • Supports testing on prototypes, existing, competitor products, and component level for stated criteria involving mechanical, electrical, environmental, and electromechanical functions. • Preparation and use of various data acquisition devices for recording mechanical, electrical, and environmental measurements. • Design, build, implement, and document electrical & mechanical test equipment and fixturing to support lab testing needs. • Maintain test and lab equipment for calibration, functionality, and operation in accordance of IO17025 and the Laboratory Scope of Operations. • Support R&D testing issues through troubleshooting, diagnosis, solution, and improvements. • Actively participate in cost reduction solutions. • Actively participate in product, test equipment, facility, and process improvements. • Perform proper disposition of test equipment after completion of testing. • Correlate and document test data using proper forms and procedures for engineering. • Update and develop policies and procedures supporting the continuous improvement of the Engineering Lab. • Maintain test-related documentation in, and support administration of, database environment. • Analyze test data and prepare formal and informal test reports on complex topics. • Assist with the Generac Engineering Laboratory Audit and organization 5S programs. • Actively participate with fellow Lab team members in daily maintenance of Lab environment and preventive maintenance of Lab equipment, including identification of equipment needing attention. Minimum Qualifications: • High School Diploma • 10 Years of relevant work experience Preferred Qualifications: • Associate degree in related field • Knowledge of ISO17025. • Proficiency in welding, shaping sheet metal, mill or turning (dependent on lab location). • Experience participating in a team-based environment with some project leadership experience. • Experience in electrical generation devices and related components. • Experience in electrical loading and paralleling of AC loading and generator systems. • Experience with Data Acquisition Systems. • Knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines. • Experience working with Thermocouples and Pressure Transducers. Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds.
