As a key member of our Infrastructure and Services Group, your contributions will include: • Designing and developing HVAC and plumbing systems, focusing on master planning, feasibility studies, and mechanical systems like co-generation while integrating sustainability principles and compliance with client requirements. • Reviewing draft designs for adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and ensuring compliance with company policies. • Conducting site reviews and studies to align designs with location specifications and adjust design requirements as necessary. • Enhancing the firm's Technical Knowledge Management through the development of white papers and technical design documentation, and contributing to technical journals. • Participating in industry conferences and symposia to boost the firm’s visibility, while collaborating with sales teams to maximize outreach. • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and supervising project work when necessary. • Undertaking additional responsibilities as required. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Architectural or Chemical Engineering, or Engineering Technology, or a related discipline. Certification as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam in jurisdictions where EIT is unavailable (must be completed within 18 months of hire, promotion, or transfer). • 5 years of relevant experience. • Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. • Domestic and/or international travel may be necessary, depending on specific responsibilities and project demands. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working on large, complex projects in a multi-disciplinary environment. • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers. • Prior experience utilizing Autodesk Revit for creating detailed mechanical drawings. • Knowledge of building codes, ASHRAE standards, and sustainable design practices. • Experience in high-performance building design targeting energy, water, and carbon reduction. The Role As a Press/Automation Manufacturing Engineer you will be responsible for design, implementation, and optimization of press and automation systems for our manufacturing operations. This shall include the integration of new technologies with an emphasis on innovative solutions for automating various manufacturing processes into traditional business functions for our stamping facilities. You will be responsible for designing, validating, and optimizing engineering projects where creativity and initiative are involved as well as some independent judgement. This role requires you to be skilled in machinery, equipment, and tooling alternatives along with sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, machines, and facilities necessary to manufacture parts. In this role, you would be responsible for working with other team members on problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives daily to achieve operational excellence. This position is responsible for defining requirements, execution of design, analysis, development, and testing of engineering projects for our stamping facilities. You will also be required to provide technical directions over other engineers or engineering support personnel and may have work direction responsibilities over a small group with specific engineering objectives both at supplier build shops and stamping facilities. What You’ll Do • Specify, procure, develop, integrate, and validate solutions for press and automation systems in stamping plants. Perform complex design analysis of mechanical systems. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and work with controls engineering and IT partners to establish requirements for associated systems while analyzing performance of existing systems to identify areas for improvement in accuracy, reliability, speed, and overall system performance. • Lead efforts in root cause analysis and corrective actions related to press and automation system findings. Utilize engineering principles to diagnose issues, identify trends, and improve manufacturing processes. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to press and automation systems and equipment. • Support training of production staff in the operation and maintenance of press and automation systems. Maintain comprehensive documentation for machine, equipment, and system design, development, and implementation. • Work with engineering functions, suppliers, plant personnel and others to implement cost reduction, methods, and manufacturing improvements. Your Skills & Abilities (Required qualifications) • 3+ years of experience in developing and maintaining machinery and equipment in manufacturing, preferably with press and automation systems in stamping. • Knowledge of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms (mechanics, hydraulics, and pneumatics). Specific knowledge of engineering mechanics and manufacturing methods engineering. • Experience in coordinating design & construction activities – preferably in automotive manufacturing facilities. • Experience with project management methodologies to manage budget constraints, varying production schedules and OEM counterparts. • Understanding of Microsoft software including MS Project. • Ability to use CAD systems (ie. AutoCAD, Unigraphics, SOLIDWORKS, Teamcenter, Teamcenter Visualization, etc.). • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, take initiative/self-directed. • Bachelor of Science (Mechanical, Electrical and/or Computer, Manufacturing Systems Engineering, or Computer Science) or equivalent experience.
