MECHANICAL DESIGN INSTRUCTOR

Classroom instruction in Mechanical Design program. Specific teaching assignments will include, but not be limited, to teaching Computer Aided Design (CAD) courses in the program using existing software and hardware. Specific courses to teach in the program would include basic CAD classes using AutoCAD, Basic and Advanced SolidWorks design software, CATIA, Geometric Tolerancing, Rapid Prototyping for Design and Capstone Design project course. Other teaching opportunities within the division may be available depending on qualification and interest in the subject area. Responsible for maintaining established programs and developing new and emerging curricula. Additional responsibilities for technology and laboratory management and coordination is required. As an integral member of the ASET Division, individual expected to develop effective collegial relationships, work closely with students, work with local employers, help convene advisory committees, and take part in the promotion of the division programs and the College in general. Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design, Computer Aided Design, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology or Equivalent. Teaching experience in an educational institution preferred. CSWA, CSWP in SolidWorks or equivalent certification or ability to attain the same before continuing status. Work experience exceeding 4000 hours minimum in the field required. Work experience involving using of Rapid Prototyping equipment, Digital Scanning, VR equipment a plus. Salary based on experience and education. Base salary range 68,574 – 77,138. Faculty contract 35-hour week, 162-day school year. Employee will regularly communicate with customers regarding technical engineering topics, and will be responsible for hands-on damper hydraulic tuning, semi-active calibration, discussing engineering design, assisting with development activities and providing some manufacturing support to achieve successful product launches. Responsibilities include: • Meet with Tenneco management and customer to understand technical requirements for new business opportunities. • Assist with development and optimization of high value, cost effective new part or system designs based on customer requirements and Tenneco engineering and manufacturing capabilities. • Develop and deliver design presentations to customer that demonstrates how Tenneco can meet their needs. • Provide support to the manufacturing production facility to launch new products and resolve technical issues. • Assist with analysis of customer field returns and support warranty return analysis. • Ensure compliance with customer drawings and specifications. Resolve requirement issues directly with customer engineers. • Support manufacturing facilities in developing PFMEA's and control plans. Required Skills • Foundation in engineering fundamentals, especially statics, fluid dynamics, & product design. • Sound written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write concise reports & to compose and deliver presentations. • Good computer skills in Excel & Power Point. Experience in Canape is preferred. • Ability to read and comprehend engineering/technical documents. • Hands-on problem-solving skills, including capability to work comfortably around test and manufacturing assembly equipment. • Strong in teamwork & with goal of leadership. Must work effectively across multiple levels of the organization to drive team success. • Flexible to travel. An established heat treating company in Monroe, MI currently has a full-time, direct hire position open for an Electro-Mechanical Technician working first shift. An Electro-Mechanical Technician is responsible for providing maintenance support throughout the organization. The team in Monroe has touched products that make the world stronger and safer.
