Mechanical Designer

Russell Tobin is seeking a Mechanical Designer/Drafter for a leading engineering design consulting company. Job Title: Mechanical Designer/Drafter Location: Saint Paul, MN 55117 Job Type: Contract-To-Hire Length: 6-Months Hours: 40 hours/week Pay Rate: $23 – $35 per hour Requirements • Strong 3D CAD experience in either Solidworks, Inventor, and/or Pro-E • Ansys FEA experience preferred, but not required • Experience designing and engineering metal framework, weldments, sheetmetal, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc • Heavy off road equipment experience a plus Skills & Qualifications • AAS or BSME required • Inventor CAD, Solidworks, and/or Pro-E Creo experience preferred • Experience with heavy off road equipment, oil processing equipment, or mobile equipment preferred Responsibilities: • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or Pro-E Creo. • Create detailed engineering drawings and bills of materials for manufacturing and assembly purposes. • Engineer structural frameworks, weldments, and sheet metal components for heavy-duty equipment applications. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, procurement, and field service to ensure design feasibility and efficiency. • Support the integration of hydraulic and pneumatic systems into product designs. • Conduct basic structural and stress analysis; support FEA analysis in Ansys as needed. • Participate in design reviews, prototype evaluations, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Ensure designs meet performance, quality, and safety standards applicable to off-road and mobile equipment. • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving design issues during prototyping and production stages. • Maintain and manage engineering documentation in compliance with internal standards and processes.
