Mechanical Designer/Drafter

Mechanical Designer / Drafter. Innovation By Design is a mechanical consulting / contracting firm located in downtown Rochester MN that specializes in mechanically engineered design solutions for a variety of industries related to the off highway mobile equipment and the steel fabrication & manufacturing environments. A well-recognized example of our work is the staircase used by the President to access Air Force One. We have been in business for 19 years, have a solid clientele with plenty of interesting and exciting projects, and we are excited to work with a capable and energetic individual to foster career growth as a CAD Designer / Drafter along with our growth as a company. Associates CAD / Drafting degree and a mechanical aptitude required. Entry level individuals with a desire for an environment of growth and learning are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include: · Perform CAD design using several popular software programs including Solidworks, Inventor, Creo, and others as clients request. · Work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Mechanical Engineer to create design geometry and develop 3D cad models for mechanical solutions that will fulfill our customers' needs and project goals. · Develop 2D detailed drawings along with the associated Bills of Materials and DXF pattern files. · This position is on the technical side with plenty of opportunity for creative and effective problem solving and solution development. For interested and enthusiastic individuals, there is ample room to grow into Engineering design with basic calculations and FEA analysis completed under the supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer. - Other duties include management of your own workload, organization and maintenance of paper and electronic files, written updates or reports to communicate progress made and analysis results to clients, interaction with clients to answer their questions and fulfill their project objectives and goals. · As a small company with a diversity of clients, this position offers an expansive opportunity to gain experience in multiple fields and with multiple product lines. · In addition to competitive pay, the position also offers 2 weeks of accrued vacation per year and a health benefits package is available. Job Summary: The Mid-level Mechanical Engineer serves to work in a fast-paced multi-discipline team environment. The position responsibilities primarily are focused on the design of mechanical systems for new facilities, additions, and renovation projects. This will require providing technical leadership for the creation of construction drawings and specifications, existing system studies and master planning efforts. Qualified candidates will meet with clients, project teams, code officials, contractors, and others to address mechanical issues to develop effective working relationships. The project clientele includes K-12 Education, Higher Education, Commercial, Health Care, Science and Technology, municipal and institutional Facilities. In this role, you will: • Develop HVAC system designs of a given project based on scope of work and/or client RFPs. • Provide engineering design, evaluation, and planning of mechanical systems for a variety of market types. • Perform Load/Energy calculations with software such as Trace 700, IES and similar programs. • Develop reports/studies. • Write/edit project specifications. • Prepare detailed design documents, reports, and studies. • Conduct existing building and documentation of existing HVAC systems. • Provide construction administration services. • We use Revit, but if you don't have experience, we will train you!
