About the position The Mechanical Trades Technician position at St. Olaf College is a full-time role within the Facilities department, primarily focused on the maintenance and repair of plumbing, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The technician will be responsible for installing and maintaining plumbing systems, which constitutes 50% of the job duties. This includes the installation and repair of toilets, urinals, fixture faucets, and both drain and supply water piping. The technician will also lead plumbing installations during periodic renovation projects and perform drain cleaning and fire system piping inspections. In addition to plumbing responsibilities, the technician will spend 30% of their time installing and maintaining HVAC systems. The technician should also be capable of working with steam and chilled water systems.
