Senior Mechanical Engineer

The primary responsibility of the Senior Mechanical Engineer is to design, engineer and test new and custom products and processes according to customer specifications. This will include developing CAD Models, Bills of Materials, drawings, and engineering analysis documentation on designed products and processes. The selected candidate will have experience and knowledge with machining, metal forming, sheet metal fabrication, welding, casting, painting and plating in the development of products. To ensure world-class customer service, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will focus on developing the knowledge, skills and abilities of the Mechanical Engineering department. Will lead projects, teams, and handle multiple projects. In addition, they will provide resources to support the manufacturing of products and oversee the installation of associated processes. They will also assist with departmental activities including review of support documentation and manuals. In addition: • Following the New Product Development process, develops, engineers, and designs products to customer specifications. • Works with Product Engineers and Designers to ensure systems are DFX (manufacturability, assembly, standards, reliability, safety, serviceability). • Provides engineering analysis for Product Management; builds and tests prototype models to prove concept or design, design automation, fixture development and other manufacturing related items toward designed products. • Performs design control activities such as aiding in the identification of the design inputs, participating in Design Reviews and product design generated records. • Works in a multi-disciplined department involved in the development of products for the process control and weighing industries. • Supports Product Designers, Product Managers, Marketing and Sales in the development of new products. • Develops reports and training programs; travel for training and to customer locations required. • Completes documentation and implementation of Engineering Chang Orders (ECO's) • Assist with providing costing and feasibility quotes to sales employees as requested • Assists in the establishment of design specifications & procedures • Performs analyses of technology, costs/benefits, and vendor capabilities • Supports validation activities in the manufacturing environment • Supports product designers in the development of new products • Assures compliance to all necessary housekeeping and safety, regulatory and company practices and policies Other Job Functions: • Keeps up to date with new technologies which may be applicable to the scale industry, acts as a catalyst and technical resource for the implementation of new technologies • Develops and delivers training programs to customers and Inside Sales employees, including determination of training goals, developing course material, and teaching classes • Travels to customer locations and other business functions in the performance of above essential job functions Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and eight (8) or more years of industrial product design experience. Five (5) or more years of experience designing with some or all of the following materials: steel, stainless steel, aluminum, ceramics, machined, thermoformed or injection molded plastics. Five (5) or more years of experience in 3D modeling required (SolidWorks preferred); preference given to Certified SolidWorks Associate, Certified SolidWorks Simulation Associate (Finite Element Analysis) and a Professional Engineering License. In addition, they will need outstanding personal computing skills including Excel, Word, Project; mainframe experience with Epicor ERP would be helpful. This position requires strong analytic and problem-solving skills. The selected person will have good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Field Service Engineer

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER For nearly 80 years Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community. Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team. A Field Service Engineer performs a variety of duties at RLWS corporate headquarters as well as onsite service work for the Integrated Solutions product line. Job duties while in Rice Lake will include the fabrication and testing of in-motion check weighing systems, technical support to internal staff as well as customer calls, assisting in product development and design, and conducting training sessions on the product line. While in the field job duties will include field qualifications of a potential system, providing electrical and mechanical installation/service of the scale equipment/system at the customer’s facility, and training the customer on proper use of the system. Out of town travel up to 75% is required for this role. Weekend and holiday availability is required at times.
