You will perform component selection, CAD design work, analysis including FEA, detailed BOM and Operator and User Manuals. The Mechanical Engineer collaborates with other SpecSys engineers and manufacturing along with project managers to ensure the On Time - On Budget - Done Right - Done Safely aspects of the project assigned. What does the Senior Mechanical Engineer do at SpecSys? • Design and verify engineering meets performance and safety requirements • Partner with leadership to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget • Coordinate project teams, provide work instructions, and maintain project timelines • Overall project responsibility including: • Verify the design meets performance and configuration specifications. • Contract management to verify the project is completed on time and on budget. • Customer management to understand expectations and standards. • Provide work instructions for designers and drafters. • Develop and update project timelines. • Develop design concepts to perform project function and facilitate reviews. • Develop scope of work projections. • Perform engineering calculations to verify compliance with design requirements. • Provide technical data to the client, designers, and drafters. • Oversee and/or perform FEA analysis to verify structural integrity. • Direct preparation FEA reports for the customer. • Prepare project review booklets and present to the customer. • Specify and source purchase components to be used. • Specify materials to be used in design. • May be responsible to work on multiple CAD packages. • Reviews CAD models for completeness, interferences, and manufacturability. • Review detail drawings for completeness, accuracy, and client standards. • Review and update model and drawing tolerances. • Generate and review Bill of Materials for completeness. • Update and track action / issue items. Requirements What you need: • Bachelor's degree in engineering or physical science from an accredited university or college. • General understanding and working knowledge of common engineering concepts & applications including statistical and scientific tools (e.g., Gage R&R, DOE, process capability, SPC, etc.). • Ability to identify technical problems and execute solutions relevant to project responsibility using a systematic problem-solving process. • Basic understanding of electric motor theory and principles, including typical mechanical and electrical inspection methods. • Ability to create technical presentations and recommendations for internal and external customers. • Apply basic project/process management tools (i.e., Gantt chart, RACI matrices) to ensure performance against project deliverables. • Ability to develop effective work relationships with suppliers and customers of project/process input and output. Hours: 7:00am - 3:30pm Summary: New Ulm Steel is a long-standing leader in the metal recycling industry. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic reports to the Yard Manager. This role repairs and completes preventive maintenance on large scrap metal production machinery, forklifts, and heavy equipment This also includes engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. The mechanic will also be following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Must have mechanical & technical knowledge of yard & shop equipment. • Must have welding experience. • Must be able to safely climb in and out of all equipment. • Lift 50lbs properly and safely • Maintain auto onboard greasing dispensing systems in addition to troubleshooting and repairing. • Instruct operators on proper maintenance on equipment (at hours interval) • Maintain daily and weekly records on maintenance. • Report any issues or discrepancies to the Yard Manager. • Assist with inventory tracking. • Knowledge of shop safety procedures when using tools and equipment to preform daily tasks. • Locates sources of problems by observing electro/mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using measuring and testing instruments. • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, hand, and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. • Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt. • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. • Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks. • Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
